Details of this retreat

Are you in need of a break? Just some time and space for quiet with a change of scenery?

A Space and Ease retreat at Ratna Ling allows you to be at your own pace. It can be a transformative experience where you find solace, rejuvenation, and inner peace. This time provides a sanctuary for you to do self-reflection, mindfulness practices, and deep relaxation in a serene and natural setting.

You have the choice to fill your day with meditation, hiking, reading, and self-study that will enhance your well-being and help you connect with your inner self.  Your cottage, the land, and regular meal times create a supportive environment for you to prioritize relaxation, healing, and self-discovery. You are able to recharge and realign with your true essence.

The schedule is light, giving you ample time for reflection and walks in the redwoods or t0 the ocean. We serve delicious and  healthy vegetarian meals. For your evening times, we have reading materials in our library as well as online inspiration from our Founder and Tibetan Buddhist Master, Tarthang Tulku.

What to Expect in the Sessions:

At Orientation, you will meet other guests on Personal Retreat and get an introduction on the nature of the mind from the Tibetan Buddhist view. You will practice shamatha,  a calm abiding practice. You will build on this practice on Saturday and Sunday, focusing on one sense at a time (hearing, seeing, smelling, touching, tasting). You might practice open awareness exercises to get a sense of the mind without content or movement, or simple visualization practice to bring to mind love, joy or compassion. Some time is also spent covering common misunderstandings about what meditation is and isn't; how it differs from therapy and other modalities, and the development of a new relationship to the contents of mind (like thoughts, emotions, judgments, labels, etc.).

Kum Nye and Self-Massage are offered to give you resources for relaxation and regulation. Kum Nye Tibetan Relaxation is a gentle healing system that relieves stress, transforms negative patterns, and helps you to be more balanced and healthy. These practices of slow movement, awareness, and postures teach us to open our senses and touch our feelings directly. Our bodies and minds make full contact with one another, and all experience becomes rich, healthy, and more beautiful. While both methods are different, each practice includes both stillness and movement, to stimulate the flow of feeling and energy that integrates body and mind.

If this weekend does not work for you, please check out our upcoming dates on our personal retreat page, so you won’t miss the opportunity to reconnect with yourself and replenish for your upcoming days.

Come to relax and enjoy the space and ease of Ratna Ling, the realm of treasures!

Rat a Ling with Gretchen
Just what I needed. Gretchen was a teacher of many things and I came away with many tools to enrich my soul. An amazing group of people all of whom brought so much to the group. I will be returning for sure.

The most peaceful retreat center set in nature
I LOVE Ratna LIng. It is remote, peaceful, with nothing but nature sounds to hear. The fall is lovely here. Lots of wind, the sound of leaves and birds and trees. It's a very easy place to disconnect from all the city things and people here. The retreat program I participated in was not overly scheduled, calm, healing. Food was super fresh, vegetarian, and lovely. The cottages are soooo nice! I left wanting more time there...

Best retreat in Bay Area
This was my third time and all I can say is each time I fall in love even more with Ratna Ling! The entire wooded forest, the gorgeous cabins, the free roaming turkeys, the incredibly delicious meals and Ofcourse the energy of peace radiating through out. Linda the director co led this retreat which was filled with insights and activities to calm and reset. Forest meditation to self massage techniques. We also received books and a journal. I highly recommend a Ratna retreat to everyone!
