About this Retreat
El Santuario’s lead teacher & retreat host Ami Jot, founder of NirvanAmi Yoga & Wellness (Vancouver, Canada), is a Reiki Master and a trauma informed, heart led practitioner with focus on yoga, meditation, sound, breath and energy work.
Growing up in India, she was surrounded by spiritual traditions, rituals, and sacred practices from a young age. From temple visits and festivals to meditation and devotional music, the culture nurtured an early curiosity about life and the mysteries of the soul. Despite the challenges and hardships she faced in her youth, these spiritual roots provided a quiet guidance a sense that life held deeper meaning beyond the darkness. Today, her teaching honors this lineage, blending traditional wisdom from India with a modern approach to help others connect with their own true nature, the Atman (soul).
Throughout her journey, she has immersed herself in diverse yogic, energy and sound healing traditions, studying under revered masters and deepening her practice. As a skilled sound ceremonialist, she incorporates her voice by singing sacred mantras, chanting and medicine songs alongside various instruments such as crystal singing bowls, tibetan bowls, gongs, native flute, shamanic drum, chimes etc.
