My path to Camp Joy Retreats has unfolded through many chapters, each one shaping how I think about connection, healing, and what it means to truly feel joy.

For more than fifteen years working in the restaurant industry, including seven years as a General Manager, I developed a deep appreciation for creating memorable experiences. Great food, beautiful spaces, and thoughtful hospitality have a way of bringing people together, and I loved watching how a shared table could spark conversation, laughter, and connection.

Another part of my journey came through my experience as a mother to a son with special needs. That chapter opened my eyes to many healing paths and led me to study practices that eventually became central to my life, including homeopathy, yoga, and meditation.

For the past twelve years I have worked as a Homeopathic Practitioner, supporting individuals and families on their healing journeys. It has been a privilege to walk alongside them as they rediscover balance, resilience, and wellbeing.

The final nudge that led to Camp Joy Retreats came after a serious car accident. During my recovery, one thought kept returning to me: this is not the dress rehearsal.

Life is meant to be lived fully, with presence and intention. That perspective became part of the heart of Camp Joy.

Today, along with designing the program with my sister, I lead the Inner Joy sessions, creating space for women to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what brings them joy. These gatherings often become some of the most meaningful moments of the retreat, where conversations deepen and new insights emerge.

Camp Joy Retreats brings together the things I care about most: connection, reflection, and the simple but powerful experience of women gathering together in beautiful places.

Details of this retreat

Zihuatanejo is a warm, soulful fishing town on Mexico’s Pacific coast, just south of Ixtapa, known for its beautiful bay, golden beaches, and vibrant local culture. What makes Zihua truly special is its authenticity: fishermen bringing in the morning catch, artisans filling the streets with color, and locals welcoming you with genuine warmth. It’s a place that naturally slows your pace and invites you to fully arrive.

Our villa will take your breath away. Perched above the Pacific Ocean, it offers the best of both worlds: the privacy and luxury of a stunning retreat paired with easy access to Zihuatanejo’s lively food, culture, and coastal charm.

The Camp Joy villa is a collection of connected buildings with two pools, expansive outdoor spaces, and seven beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with a terrace and private bath. Designed in modern Mexican style and filled with vibrant folk art, it’s a luxurious sanctuary with access to the exclusive SLS beach club.

Camp Joy Zihua blends daily yoga, Inner Joy workshops, and restorative downtime with immersive local experiences. Think vibrant markets, warm ocean swims, and fresh seafood enjoyed with your feet in the sand.

Unlike its more famous neighbors, Zihuatanejo remains rooted in its fishing village heritage, offering a relaxed atmosphere perfect for meaningful travel. Recently named a Pueblo Mágico and home to two Blue Flag beaches, Zihua’s magic stays with you long after you leave.

Our rooms are priced either as private or shared. If you choose shared, the person who books will pay the 50% deposit for both people in the room. Please let us know if you would us to send the final payment request to the second person in the room.

Schedule

Camp Joy retreats have a natural rhythm with shared experiences, outings, and Inner Joy sessions. There is also plenty of time to relax, explore, or simply enjoy quiet moments.
Every activity is optional. Some women join every outing and session, while others take time to rest, read, or explore on their own.

Directions

By Air:
Fly into Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Airport (ZIH).
There are weekly direct flights from many major Canadian cities and daily flights from Phoenix (PHX), Los Angeles (LAX), Dallas (DFW), and Houston (IAH), and Mexico City (MEX). It may take you two flights to get here, but we promise it is worth it!

Transfer Shuttles:
Group shuttles from ZIH Airport will be arranged as part of Camp Joy Retreats Zihuatanejo. Timing will be coordinated based on Camper arrivals.

Accommodation

We’re delighted to present a variety of options and price points to fit your needs. All prices include meals and snacks, drinks (wine, margaritas, and, of course, non-alcoholic options), all on-site and off-site activities notes on the agenda, and moments of surprise and delight. All suites are air conditioned, have ensuite shower rooms and are furnished with towels and bedding. Bathroom amenities include: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer. We will also provide pool, yoga and beach towels. Suites with king beds can be reserved just for you or shared with a loved one or friend. If you choose the Casita Campista Suite or Campista Dos Suite and aren't coming with women you know, we are happy to pair you with wonderful roommates. Pricing is based on a 6-night stay. We would be delighted to assist with hotel recommendations or bookings for anyone wishing to stay earlier or later.

This large suite with a private terrace accommodates up to four guests. It features two double-beds and two single beds.

Casita Campista Suite | 2 Double-Beds

This large suite with a private terrace accommodates up to four guests. It features two double-beds. Or would you like to relive your camp experience but this time in comfort? Pricing is available upon request for 2 lower bunks if you have a group of four friends ready to both reminisce and create new stories together.

BEAUTIFUL ACCOMMODATIONS
