About this Retreat

Your Guides

Details of this retreat

Join us for an immersive surf and cultural expedition in Gabon. Your journey begins at Libreville International Airport, where you’ll be welcomed by your local guide before a 25-minute domestic flight to Port-Gentil. From there, a private charter boat takes you approximately six hours along Gabon’s remote coastline to a quiet fishing town surrounded by consistent Atlantic swell.

Once at the destination, you’ll experience uncrowded, world-class waves with multiple peaks and surfable conditions throughout the day in most seasons. With very few surfers in the water, the coastline offers a rare sense of space, freedom, and exploration.

Accommodation is in comfortable hotel-style rooms with air conditioning, hot water, and Wi-Fi. Upon arrival, we can assist you in obtaining a local SIM card if you wish to stay connected. Meals are available locally at nearby family-run restaurants serving fresh, regional cuisine.

The base package includes 4 nights and 3 full days of surfing, with the option to extend your stay for additional surf days.

Beyond surfing, guests may choose optional experiences such as exploring Loango National Park, deep-sea fishing excursions, or engaging with the cultural and spiritual traditions of Bwiti. This retreat combines adventure, ocean immersion, and authentic cultural discovery in one of Africa’s most untouched coastal regions.

One of Earth's least-surfed coastlines. Mayumba, southern Gabon — raw Atlantic exposure, zero crowds, waves all day across shifting sand peaks. Swells run 1–6 ft most days; 8 ft+ during Southern Hemisphere peak season (May–Sep), with 10–14 sec periods producing clean, peeling lefts and rights. Multiple peaks fire simultaneously down long open beaches — some punchy, some flowing, all yours. Best for intermediate to advanced surfers. No infrastructure — bring ocean awareness.
