About this Retreat
Didi Ananda Sainjana is social volunteer and a yogic nun. Since 2006, she has taught personalized meditation to over 3000 women from over 30 countries. A couple of hundreds have undergone through the annual month-long Spiritual Training Program for women volunteers since 2010.
Born in Singapore, Didi was drawn into fitness in the early 90s and gradually to healthcare and to a healthy yogic lifestyle. She made a significant change from a career in the executive corporate world to a yogic lifestyle in 2000. It all started from a hobby in aromatherapy in 1987. This eventually brought her to further include a variety of alternative medicine including naturopathy, manual therapy and so on. She was a practicing therapist in a clinical environment briefly in Singapore. She holds a Bachelor in Health Science (Complimentary Medicine) from NSW Australia, and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT).
She has been trained in a variety of yoga traditions including the Vivekananda Yoga, Satyananda, Yin Yoga & Viniyoga. She has been teaching yoga since 2001 and frequently conducts Yoga Instructors Training Program and organises Yoga Detox Retreats. She is a E-RYT500 and YACEP with Yoga Alliance.
Didi also devotes her time to Neohumanist social service initiatives in education and eco- sustainable projects, serving both the needy and the environment on a global scale.
Didi is a Faculty Member of NeoHumanist College of Asheville, is a member of the
Executive Board of AMAYE (Ananda Marga Association of Yoga Educators).
Dr. Kathy (Kaoverii) Zimmerman, PhD, FNP, APHN
Kathy is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse (APHN). She has worked in a variety of settings as a nurse: Neonatal ICU, private holistic practice with a focus on homeopathy, community health clinic as an FNP, and as Nursing Faculty at several universities across the U.S. In addition to her clinical and didactic experience, Kathy has participated in curriculum development for undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. Kathy’s focus in teaching is to provide an open environment for learning and engaging students in experiential reflective learning.
Her upbringing in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Thailand influenced Kathy’s interest in a multicultural approach to care and a desire to practice natural healing. Returning to America in 1972, her family settled in Louisville Kentucky. This is where she was introduced to yoga and meditation, a specific spiritual path, focused on Neohumanism. She has continued this practice for the past 50 years.
Kathy moved to Nashville TN with her husband and two sons in the early 90’s. Her hobbies include crafts, sewing and quilt making, travel, and being in nature.
