About this Retreat
Maria DiBello, RSM is a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. Her experience includes adult faith formation, pastoral ministry, spiritual direction, and retreat ministry. At Cranaleith, she offers spiritual accompaniment and serves on the staff of the Spiritual Direction Formation program. She facilitates individual and group retreats and days of staff renewal for nonprofits with a particular focus on Cranaleith’s mission to welcome those on the margins of society and those who serve them.
Maria holds a masters degree in religious studies from Villanova University, as well as certificates in spiritual direction from the Vincentian Center for Church and Society (VCCS) at St. John’s University and in pastoral Spanish from the MAAC. She serves on the Faith and Spiritual Affairs Committee of the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS).

A voice from the dark called out,
‘The poets must give us
imagination of peace, to oust the intense, familiar
imagination of disaster. Peace, not only
the absence of war.’
Denise Levertov
Our world cries out ceaselessly for the peace that is God’s dream for us. On this August 6 anniversary, when peace was shattered so profoundly by a nuclear weapon, we invite you to join us in hope. During these few twilight hours, we will draw on poets from every age to sustain our longing and stir our resilience. Bring your own poems or your favorite words to this simple, prayerful time of sharing. Allow their beauty and power to hold us in God’s promise. We hope to see you!
