Details of this retreat

Here at Alma Mactzil, we honor cacao not just as a drink, but as a sacred teacher. We begin by gathering at the altar of our main cacao tree, nestled within our own cacao plantation, where we’ll offer prayers and intentions, inviting the cacao spirit to support us on our path.

Together, we’ll walk through every step of chocolate-making: harvesting the pods, fermenting, drying, roasting, and grinding — each stage infused with ceremony and meaning. These hands-on experiences connect you to the rhythms of nature and remind you of the ceremonial richness that life offers us every day.

During our time together, we will also explore the Sacred Mayan Cholq’ij calendar, known as the “Thread of the Days.” This ancient system is used for divination, manifesting ceremonies of protection and celebration, and deepening our relationship with the universe and the elements of Mother Nature.

Step into a heart-opening journey unlike any other, where the spirit of cacao guides you through transformation, connection, and deep self-discovery.

This unique retreat offers you the rare opportunity to experience cacao in its purest form — from the tree to your heart — for seven consecutive days of intentional practice and ceremony.

You’ll learn about the 20 sacred day signs — B’atz’, E, Aj, I’x, Tz’ikin, Ajmaq, No’j, Tijax, Kawoq, Ajpu, Imox, Iq’, Aq’ab’al, K’at, Kan, Kame, Kej, Q’anil, Toj, and T’zi’ — and discover how they guide our days with wisdom and meaning.

Your host, Lorena, is a 10 Tijax — the nawal (spirit) of healing and the number of community — guiding the retreat with heart, wisdom, and care.

What truly sets this retreat apart is that it takes place in my home, where I have been nurturing community and offering transformative experiences for over five years
When you join us here, you’re not just attending a retreat—you’re stepping into a living, breathing community where every detail is infused with intention and heart.

You’ll be supported not only by me but also by dedicated volunteers and staff members who are walking their own journeys of healing, growth, and service. At Alma Mactzil—meaning “Soul Miracle,” from Alma (Spanish for "soul") and Mactzil (Mayan for "miracle")—you’ll find a sanctuary where you can step away from the outside world and journey inward toward holistic well-being and spiritual alignment.

Our mission is simple yet profound:

To nurture soulful beings so they may discover the miracle that lies within.

Here, we open the doors of our home and our hearts to those seeking peace, transformation, and a deeper sense of belonging. With personalized retreats and a sense of community living, you’ll experience a lifestyle that’s simple, authentic, and deeply connected to nature’s rhythms—inviting harmony, balance, and presence into your life.
