Buddha Nature speaks to our innate potential for wisdom, compassion, and even full enlightenment. It means that at our core, we are fundamentally wise and loving. This universal basic goodness is something that we all share.
To care for our mental health and well-being, we must nurture and uncover the Buddha Nature within ourselves. One way to do this is by gently challenging the unhelpful beliefs we hold about ourselves and our lives. Once we recognize our delusions, we must learn to face our emotions with courage and meet them with loving-kindness. As we work with our minds, we come home to our innate Buddha Nature—an infinite source of clarity and compassion within us. From this place, we can show up in our lives as kinder, wiser, and more peaceful versions of ourselves.
In this daylong retreat, we will explore practical, everyday tools for mental well-being —tools that support the development of a healthy heart and mind. To be clear, this is not a substitute for therapy or psychiatric care. Rather, this class offers insight into a Buddhist perspective on how we can care for our minds. Whether we are in a time of ease or difficulty, our minds need our continual, compassionate attention.
Each session will combine teachings, guided meditations, and opportunities for discussion.
