About this Retreat
Heir to the healing knowledge of the women in her family, Grandma Mamacuna holds the rank of "Inca High Priestess." From her mother and grandmother, she learned from a very young age in Peru the healing techniques with swords, tobacco, perfumes, eggs, and candles, and today, with more than 70 years of age, she continues her service with total dedication, energy, and love. Mamacuna is a direct representative of the spirit of Wachuma medicine, one of the largest sacred plants in the world, and at the same time its guardian in the sacred hills in Andalgalá in Catamarca, Argentina. She handles various Andean healing techniques, while she is also a teacher of the medicine of sacred mushrooms. Its healing power lies not only in the knowledge of the lineage that it carries, but also in the great tests that life put on it, knowing from their own experience the pains and trials that the human soul must go through. At the same time that her knowledge to guide ceremonies promotes profound healing processes, it is also her charisma, attention, joyful spirit and human warmth that manages to transform the lives of those who know her.
Jampi Camayoc, a grandfather healer and teacher of sacred medicine for over 80 years, born in Cuzco, Peru, who comes from a long heritage of traditional doctors of Andean lineage. He is a scholar and connoisseur of shamanic spiritual symbology, at the same time that he handles the tarot as a diagnostic tool. He specializes in healing with flowery waters of his own elaboration, while he is dedicated to prophetic and visionary art.
Traditional therapist, ceremonial guide and academic researcher in the field of humanities and perennial philosophy, born in Argentina, currently based in Mexico City. He has been raised in an environment of modern medicine and rationalism, as his father is a neurologist and allergist with a long history, while he has been trained in various undergraduate and postgraduate studies, in careers related to the humanities and cultural studies and, reaching PhD level with a thesis in progress on metaphysics and psychology. She has a family shamanic lineage of diverse geographical roots, predominantly Germanic and Scandinavian lines, while from an early age she has gone through experiences and manifestations of connection with the world of spirits. This has motivated his journey through various paths and schools of spiritual knowledge, among which Logosophy stands out, to later resume the vocation of service in the field of physical and metaphysical health. WACHUMA
THE MEDICINE OF GENIALITY
WHAT IS THE WACHUMA?
Wachuma is a sacred medicine that grows in the Andean region, primarily in northern Argentina. It is one of the most beneficial master plants, yet its use remains secret. Often confused with San Pedro, its tradition dates back to immemorial times, and only a few elders safeguard its traditional and transcendent use. Its spirit is one of great love and intensity, contributing to the healing of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual issues. It works with great sensitivity within us and, at the same time, helps us connect with nature, receiving messages through it (water, fire, trees, animals, etc.). As a master plant, it serves as an effective means of healing and a valuable tool for spiritual connection. Its effect lasts between 12 and 16 hours, during which various healing processes and steps take place. The medicine we will use was harvested in the sacred hills of northern Argentina by Grandmother Mamacuna and Inti, following a completely artisanal and organic process. From ceremonial harvesting, cutting, drying, re-cutting, cleaning, cooking, macerating, and serving in ceremony, its energetic quality is carefully preserved. Wachuma is a great alternative to Hikuri/Peyote (which also contains mescaline), as it is not endangered. It is considered a "sister" medicine, but diurnal and from the heights, sometimes described as the perfect fusion between Hikuri and Ayahuasca. It can also be used at night, like the latter, with similar potency and effect.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Also known as gigantón, aguacolla/wacolla, or cardo/cardón, its most important alkaloids are trichocereine and mescaline, found in a 5:1 ratio. In northern Argentina, in the Ancasti department, cave paintings have been discovered that allude to the use of this ancestral medicine, and it was even used in the composition of pigments. There is a hypothesis that the Peruvian San Pedro "migrated" from northern Argentina in pre-Incan times, over 3,000 years ago. The tradition persisted in Peru, while the Wachuma tradition in Argentina was lost. According to one of the most renowned healers of the Andes, Tuno:
"The symbolism of San Pedro is to locate in all regions of the territory the elemental thought and potential of man... San Pedro is a cactus that contains an ingredient which, when ingested, opens the subconscious and the sixth sense of the individual – that is, their telepathic sixth sense – allowing them to transport themselves, transcend matter, time, and distance. One can spiritually travel quickly to wherever they want by focusing on their goal... San Pedro is a tool to make the spirit more pleasant and manageable." According to tradition, bats developed their "radar" ability to navigate in darkness by sipping the Wachuma flower. Regarding the spirit of the plant, its protective animals are the Puma and the Condor.
ABOUT MAMACUNA
Heir to the healing knowledge passed down by the women of her family, Grandmother Mamacuna holds the title of "Supreme Inca Priestess." From a young age, she learned healing techniques with swords, tobacco, eggs, and candles from her mother and grandmother in Peru. Now, at over 70 years old, she continues her service with total dedication, energy, and love. Mamacuna is a direct representative and guardian of the Wachuma medicine spirit. She practices various Andean healing techniques and is also a master of sacred mushroom medicine. When Grandmother Mamacuna is unable to be present, the ceremonies are led by Inti and Ronin Koshi, both traditional healers and Wachuma guides, accompanied by a team of 3 to 6 people. Thanks to her and her partner, Jampi Camayoc, the tradition of this sacred remedy has been revived.
HOW IS THE CEREMONY?
After a preparation period involving healthy eating and fasting, participants will gather at the ceremony location. The daytime ceremony begins at 8 AM and concludes around 8 PM, while the nighttime ceremony starts at sunset and ends at dawn. The medicine works internally for 12 hours, and its subtle effects can last for days, stimulating dreams and bringing mental clarity. Throughout the process, participants will be assisted and supported by the guides and their assistants. The ceremony includes different stages of work, with moments of solitary connection with nature, collective circle gatherings, and personal or general talks with Mamacuna. Various energy cleansing rituals will take place, using eggs, swords, fire, tobacco, and feathers. While part of the work is conducted in silence, live music featuring singing, drums, guitar, rattles, and bass drums will provide guidance and support throughout the process. At one point, an offering-asking-payment ritual will be performed to the earth, where a hole is dug to place elements as a token of gratitude and a request for healing and blessings. The ceremony will conclude with everyone leaving safely, but the medicine will continue working internally and in dreams for up to a week, allowing for personal changes and improvements. For nighttime ceremonies, the dynamics change accordingly.
WHAT ARE YOUR BENEFITS?
Wachuma fosters a profound therapeutic process for emotional, mental, and physical healing, providing tools for self-knowledge and connecting us with spiritual hierarchies. It aids in internal and external energy purification, releasing stress, depression, and negative emotional burdens from the body, mind, and spirit. The medicine teaches the art of transforming resentment, suffering, and ego into love, peace, happiness, harmony, and wisdom, regardless of whether one's pain is spiritual or psychological. It enhances human qualities in all areas of life, renews personal vitality with a mysterious and loving pedagogy, and expels fear, harm, and dark energies. Wachuma can help retrieve forgotten memories, heighten sensitivity to light and color, and refine the senses. It provides intense visions with both open and closed eyes, links us to the spirit world, and facilitates connections with ancestors and deceased loved ones. Wachuma restores the desire to live, supports addiction recovery, and frees participants from emotional and energetic blockages. It also strengthens self-love and love for others.
