Luis

Don Miguel

Don Miguel was born into a Shipibo community called Roaboya on the River Ucayali. When Don Miguel was a child, Angel Sanchez Vargas, his grandfather was the community’s curandero. Vargas was an expert in sacred plant medicines and was frequently called upon to heal and share his spiritual wisdom with members of Roaboya. The school built some years later was named after Vargas and Roaboya went on to be recognised as the first indigenous community 114 years ago. Don Miguel grew up surrounded by the Shipibo wisdom and possess intimate knowledge of the sacred plant medicines. At a very young age he began his apprenticeship as a curandero through plant dietas under the supportive guidance of his grandfather. Miguel is also a trained literature professor and thoroughly enjoys teaching the Shipibo language and culture. Since 2012, Don Miguel has spent the bulk of his time at the Ayahuasca Foundation where he supports his brother, Don Enrique in leading lectures, workshops, initiation courses and retreats. Don Miguel will lead our Ayahuasca ceremonies, circle discussions and be available for personal consultations whilst on retreat.

Luis Tamani

Luis Tamani is a visionary artist born in the Peruvian Amazon and raised along the sacred banks of the Ucayali River. From an early age, nature was his teacher—the forest, the waters, and the quiet language of trees shaping his way of seeing and creating. In 2002, Luis began formal studies at the Eduardo Meza Saravia School of Art in Pucallpa, immersing himself in techniques across realism, cubism, and abstraction. Over time, his work evolved toward a more organic and spiritually alive expression—one that honors nature not only for its beauty, but for its wisdom. His paintings explore the meeting place between human consciousness and the intelligence of the natural world, inviting viewers to remember their belonging to the greater web of life. Guided by humility and reverence, Luis paints what he feels when he listens deeply: the whispers of the forest, the songs of the plants, and the presence that moves beneath all forms. His creative process is both study and devotion, a bridge between the seen and the unseen. For many years, he has shared this path with others—supporting students to translate inner vision into form with patience, discipline, and joy. In his studio and workshops, he encourages a gentle return to the creative source, where color and form become tools for communion, healing, and harmony.
