About this Retreat

Details of this retreat

The stream of justice-making runs deep and long at Kirkridge. Direct actions have been planned here. Resistance campaigns have been born; new worlds have been imagined, and we’ve trained in the skills and postures needed to live into them.

In 1942, a group of 15 clergy and seminarians–all deeply involved in justice work–were drawn together by their hunger for a spiritual life strong and nourishing enough to sustain that work. Out of their convening, Kirkridge was born. The original motto of the organization was “picket and pray,” and for 83 years, Kirkridge has been living into that mission, hosting countless retreats and gatherings around nuclear-disarmament, peacemaking, racial and economic justice, climate justice, LGBTQ thriving, mutual aid, and more. We could not begin to name all those who have held space and nurtured this fire over the years. Our hearts are full of gratitude for folks like Daniel and Phillip Berrigan, Liz McAlister, Desmond Tutu, Vincent Harding, Bayo Akomolafe, Susan Raffo, and so many more. Many of you have put your bodies on this land and been part of projects of resistance, liberation, and justice. This is our lineage and our future. Let's gather to celebrate and honor our stories and dream into the work ahead. May we carry it with joy, imagination, and the power of community.

Join us virtually on Sunday evening, November 9, at 7pm as we celebrate this deep history of justice-making and as we resource the continuation of this work in a time when it is more crucial than ever.

This will also be your first chance to hear a bit about how this stream will continue to build into 2026 and beyond. This work is so important to this moment in our history. We are committed to being a place where conspiring, organizing, and action building happens. We need your financial support to help make sure Kirkridge can continue to be a place that welcomes this work.

If you can’t attend but want to support the work, you can donate here: https://kirkridge.org/give/  or send a check to Kirkridge Retreat Center, 2495 Fox Gap Road, Bangor, PA 18013.

Excellent leadership. Well-paced. Community building. Beautiful setting. Gardening built into the weekend. Sessions were intimate and creative, especially appreciated the collective dream work. Another good fit for the entire program. Thanks to the Kirkridge Community.

very wet wild church!
So I showed up for a very wet Wild Church on Wed. April 3-- and it was great!

What sweet, caring people! What a nice, thoughtful, short & compelling worship service- also wet!

What a nice, simple - but yummy- covered dish supper, to boot!

And what a nice, warm and dry night's stay afterwards at an extremely affordable price!

The best simple evening I've had in a long time. I will do it again. You should, too!
