Details of this retreat

Presented by Rain Tree - The NM Center for Meditative Inquiry and Retreat, this retreat is not tied to traditional practices but rather is based on direct inquiry into the moment-to-moment unfolding of Life.

The retreat is appropriate for people from any tradition or practice, as well as for people who are not involved in a meditation tradition.

The retreat day consists of optional timed and untimed silent sittings and breaks for exercise or walking outside.

There is a talk given by the retreat leader in the morning, a group dialogue time in the afternoon, and opportunities for individual meetings with the retreat leader in the evening.

All activities are optional except the agreement to remain silent throughout the day (other than in group or individual meetings.)

Please note that most participants will not want to engage socially with others during the retreat. The retreat is not a good match for people who primarily want to engage socially and through talking.

At the same time, most of us experience a deep sense of connection and affection when sitting quietly together and sharing honestly in meetings.

The retreat leader is Jay Cutts. Jay has been involved in meditation and retreats for over 50 years.

He first attended retreats at the Rochester, New York Zen Center and then continued sitting with Toni Packer at the Springwater, New York, Center for Meditative Inquiry and Retreat for many years.

The Rain Tree Center is not officially affiliated with the Springwater Center, though their ways of working together are similar.

Our work might be called "direct human inquiry." It doesn't require any traditional beliefs or practices, and we can explore teachings and practices that might be meaningful to you more deeply.

Many teachers have worked in this direct way, including Toni Packer, Krishnamurti, Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, and Adyashanti.
