Jens is a transformational coach, trauma therapist, and workshop facilitator. His work integrates trauma therapy (IFS, NARM), somatic and energy practices (Mobius, Sevenoaks), life coaching (Newfield), relational and couples work (TRI, IFIO), leadership and systems change (McKinsey, Harvard), Theory U and Social Presencing (Presencing Institute), wilderness rites of passage (Wilderness Reflections), and contemplative wisdom traditions (Thomas Hübl, Academy of Inner Science). Jens weaves these threads into immersive healing experiences that invite body, mind, heart, soul, and nature into deeper connection, integration, and transformation.
Earlier in his life, Jens was a Senior Partner and Dean of Leadership Development at McKinsey & Company, where he co-founded the firm’s sustainability and international development practices. Trained as a developmental biologist and environmental scientist with PhD from Cambridge University, he continues to be deeply rooted in nature, regeneration, and systemic transformation.
Details of this retreat
Do you ever feel like different parts of you are pulling in opposite directions? Or that “something has taken over” that was stronger than you?
Welcome to the fascinating world of your inner sub-personalities.
Modern psychology confirms what many wisdom traditions have long understood: Our mind is not a single, unified voice but a dynamic system of different parts, each with its own emotions, perspectives, and intentions. Some of these parts protect us, others carry wounds from the past, and at times, they can become stuck in old roles that no longer serve us.
The Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach offers a powerful way to engage with these parts, helping them release outdated burdens and allowing your true Self to lead with clarity and compassion.
If and when participants feel ready, we will also gently touch and integrate childhood trauma, supporting the deep healing of emotional wounds.
Through experiential exercises, mindful self-inquiry, and deep dialogue, you'll learn to recognize, communicate with, and integrate these parts—allowing more ease, self-trust, and authentic expression.
Facilitators: Maren Jakob and Dr. Jens Riese, both deeply familiar with inner parts work. Jens has been trained and mentored by Dr. Richard Schwartz, the founder of IFS therapy, and has co-led IFS workshops with Dick.
