About this Retreat
Rosie Parton is a yoga teacher and retreat facilitator rooted in the classical non-dual Tantric lineage.
Her practice began through grief and has shaped everything since - over a decade of study and 6+ years of teaching, rooted in embodied practice, self-enquiry and nervous-system regulation.
After years teaching in London, she moved towards something slower and more personal - spaces where depth is prioritised and where guests are met as individuals. She has facilitated retreats and events internationally, working with well-known brands and events including Malin+Goetz, Salesforce, Alo Yoga and Soul Lanka Festival.
Drawing heavily from Tantra - particularly the aspect of working with the body, not trying to transcend it. Connection to self, embodiment, tools for evolution. Rooted in real life.
Previously Head of Yoga at Soul & Surf Sri Lanka, she is based on the south coast running her own retreat brand, Heart Temple - born from a love of nature and a commitment to deep, authentic practice.
Based in Sri Lanka. Available worldwide.
Details of this retreat
Embrace a slower rhythm of life.
Intentionally small. Immersive. Progressional. Calm by design. Not a surf camp or party retreat.
This week we will share practices, creative workshops, dining experiences, the ocean, a space. All of it is designed to return you to your inner nature.
The methodology gets explored naturally. Drawing from the tantric understanding of Apas, the water element, and the science and philosophy of impermanence.
The week moves you through it all.
Sri Lanka is intentional rather than incidental. You're on an island, surrounded by the exquisite Indian ocean, in a country shaped by monsoons and surf breaks. The location is part of the philosophy.
Choose a Surf Package (small group lessons with local instructor Rash, video analysis, max 3:1 ratio) or a Yoga Package (private 1:1 class with Rosie, meditation, journaling, massage).
Both include daily yoga, local seasonal meals, a tea plantation tour, and a mask painting workshop.
Depth over volume, real attention over packed schedules. Hosted by Rosie and Rash, who both live and work here in Sri Lanka.
A typical day:
Wake up with the sun. Take time to ease into your day slowly: noble silence, pranayama, journaling, meditation, tea and coffee. Surfers head to the water surf lesson and others can choose to relax, or head to the beach for a swim. Breakfast after the beach with a delicious, barista-made coffee or drink. Then into morning themed yoga practice with Rosie: yoga, somatics, philosophy, breath, Kriya. Then the afternoon opens up, free time, jewelry-making class, the mask workshop, a massage, browse the local town, sunbathe, read or the tea plantation trip. Video analysis and theory at 4 for surfers. Evening yin yoga at 5:30. Dinner at 7.
This is for you if you want individual focus and depth rather than a packed, generic schedule. Whether you're travelling solo, with a friend, or as a couple, you'll be met as an individual, not processed as part of a group. It's not for you if you're looking for a high-volume surf camp, a party-focused trip, or the cheapest accommodation on the coast.
Hosted by Rosie and Rash, who both live and work in Sri Lanka. This is our home. We can't wait to welcome you.
What Makes This Retreat Special:
- The instructor-to-guest ratio: Max 8 guests, max 3:1 for surf lessons. Most surf retreats run much bigger groups where you're one of 15 people rotating through a shared instructor. That's a structural difference.
- It's not basic yoga and being pushed onto waves: A lot of surf-and-yoga retreats bolt yoga onto a surf camp as an add-on, or add a surf class into a yoga retreat. We split into two actual packages so someone can go deep on surf progression with video analysis, or deep on personal practice with a private 1:1, rather than getting a diluted version of both.
- Rash is a genuine local, not an imported instructor: Our testimonials on our website back this up specifically with guests naming real progression (pop-ups to shoulder-high waves, going from zero to independent surfing) rather than generic 'amazing time' language.
- We live there: We aren't flying in to run a retreat in a location we have visited once for scouting. This is our home and is hosted like it. That's the difference between a retreat that feels curated for guests and one that feels performed for guests.
- It's explicitly not for everyone. We know who it's not for (high-turnover surf camps, party stays, budget accommodation seekers). We are clear on this so the right people can find us.
