About this Retreat
Anabela is the founder of Ecotura, a yoga teacher, nature guide and retreat host who personally leads and hosts all retreats.
Before creating Ecotura, she worked as an environmental journalist and documentary filmmaker. A long-standing passion for nature eventually brought her to Peneda-Gerês National Park, where she settled in a restored mountain hamlet and created a retreat space dedicated to wellbeing, simplicity and connection with the natural world.
Anabela is certified in Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga for Athletes and Yoga for Menopause. She also teaches meditation and mindfulness practices. Her classes are welcoming and accessible to all levels, with an emphasis on mindful movement, breath awareness and adapting the practice to each individual's needs.
Drawing on her background in yoga, wellbeing and nutrition, she carefully designs each retreat to combine movement, nature, nourishing food and time to slow down. Guests are encouraged to step away from the demands of daily life and reconnect with themselves through meaningful experiences in nature.
Because Ecotura is intentionally small and personally hosted, guests have the opportunity to experience a more authentic and supportive environment than is often found in larger retreat centres. Many describe the experience as warm, personal and deeply grounding, reflecting Anabela's love of nature and her commitment to creating retreats that leave guests feeling rested, inspired and renewed.
Details of this retreat
Move better. Breathe deeper. Walk lighter.
This 8-day hiking and yoga retreat is designed for people who love to move in nature and want to walk with more strength, ease and awareness.
Set in Peneda-Gerês National Park, the only national park in Portugal, this retreat combines guided hikes of 5 to 15 km with daily yoga practices designed to support the body before and after walking.
Each morning begins with yoga to mobilise the joints, strengthen the core, improve balance and connect with the breath. The hikes then take you through oak forests, mountain streams, ancient villages, Roman bridges, granite landscapes and high plateaus where wild Garrano horses may be seen roaming freely.
After active days outdoors, guests return to Ecotura, a beautifully restored mountain hamlet surrounded by nature, where vegetarian meals, quiet evenings and a warm small-group atmosphere create space to rest and reconnect.
This is an active but grounding retreat — created to energise without rushing, challenge without overwhelming, and help guests reconnect with nature at a human pace.
