Tuim Nova Era

About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Tuim Nova Era, Cacique and spiritual leader of the Huni Kuī village Espelho da Vida, was born and raised in the Huni Kuī Indigenous Land of the Humaitá River in Acre, deep in the Brazilian Amazon. Coming from a lineage of shamans and Txanás, he has spent over 23 years sharing the sacred wisdom of his people, conducting forest medicine ceremonies both within and beyond his village. Despite his vast experience, he considers himself an eternal apprentice, continuously deepening his relationship with the healing plants and sacred songs of his ancestors.

As the founder of the Center for the Study of Traditional Medicines Huni Kuī Espelho da Vida (Hiwea Kiri Beisiti), Tuim has played a fundamental role in revitalizing and preserving his people’s culture since the early 2000s. His work focuses on keeping ancient traditions alive, ensuring that the younger generations remain connected to the spiritual and medicinal knowledge of the forest.

In 2017, he established the Instituto Centro Espelho da Vida, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening and regenerating Huni Kuī culture. Located in the Kaxinawá Indigenous Land of the Humaitá River, this institute provides a space for learning, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship. It serves as a bridge between Indigenous knowledge and those seeking a deeper connection with the Amazon and its spiritual traditions.

Through social entrepreneurship, immersive village experiences, and ceremonies across Brazil and beyond, Tuim Nova Era’s mission is to bring tangible benefits to his community, fostering growth, well-being, and spiritual resilience. His work is a testament to the power of Indigenous wisdom in shaping a more harmonious and connected world.
