About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Sitting with Taita Benjamin Chasoy offers a rare opportunity to engage with authentic, living ancestral wisdom. As a member of the Inga Indigenous community, Taita Benjamin has been rooted in the sacred Yagé tradition since birth. His spiritual path is shaped by his paternal Inga lineage and enriched by his maternal Tayrona heritage, granting him a unique and expansive cosmovision.
His deep connection with the Arhuaco and Kogi peoples of northern Colombia further broadens his perspective, offering students a rare synthesis of Indigenous traditions from both the North and South of the country. This integrative approach provides a holistic understanding of sacred medicine, ceremonial practice, and nature-based spirituality.
Together with his brother, Taita Richard Chasoy—a respected elder and medicine carrier—they prepare the sacred Yagé in the jungles of Puerto Asís. Their work is guided by reverence, integrity, and a commitment to preserving the ancient ways of their lineage.
Taita Benjamin Chasoy is a guardian of nature and tradition, offering his teachings in an environment rooted in authenticity, humility, and profound spiritual insight. To learn from him is to receive teachings that go beyond the intellect—an embodied, heart-centred transmission of Indigenous knowledge meant to guide transformation, healing, and a respectful connection with the natural world. Through this sacred exchange, the wisdom of his people not only continues to thrive but is also passed on to future generations with care and purpose.
