Rasu Yawanawa

About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Rasu Yawanawá is one of the most respected young spiritual leaders of his generation among the Yawanawá people. He is the grandson of the great medicine man and pajé Tata Txanu Natasheini, one of the most revered elders and wisdom keepers of the Yawanawá tradition. From a young age, Rasu was carefully prepared and chosen by Tata to be his spiritual successor, carrying forward a sacred lineage of ancestral knowledge.

Today, Rasu holds a central role in the Mutum village, located deep in the Amazon rainforest. There, he leads sacred ceremonies and supports the community’s organization alongside Chief Matsini. His leadership reflects a new generation of Indigenous leaders who walk between worlds—preserving their cultural and spiritual traditions while also building bridges to the outside world.

Rasu is known for his powerful voice and magnetic presence. Beyond being a spiritual guide, he is also a gifted musician and traditional singer, sharing sacred chants that connect his people to the spirit world and to the forest. He speaks the Yawanawá language fluently, a testament to his deep commitment to cultural preservation and spiritual integrity.

He has also completed the highest spiritual initiation within the Yawanawá tradition: the Muká diet. This sacred process involves long periods of isolation, silence, and deep communion with the spiritual world through sacred plants. Only those with immense spiritual strength and dedication can undertake and complete this path.

Today, Rasu serves as an inspiration not only to his own people but also to those around the world who seek healing, connection to nature, and ancestral wisdom. He is a living bridge between ancient traditions and contemporary consciousness, guiding others to remember the sacredness of life.
