About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Born in Brazil to an Indigenous mother and an African-descendant father, Ira was raised in a rich cultural environment grounded in medicinal herbs, prayers, music, and dance. Her background in Afro-Brazilian and contemporary dance, along with formal education in theater and directing, laid the foundation for her early career as an actress and dancer. Transitioning into health and wellness, she became a therapist specializing in dance-theater for holistic well-being.
Ira trained as a sound therapist, mastering techniques such as Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and shamanic chanting. She furthered her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture and craniofacial massage. A transformative trip to ancient Mayan sites in 1994 deepened her commitment to Indigenous teachings, which now inform her retreats and rituals.
For over 15 years, she has organized international retreats and led ceremonies, integrating ancestral medicines to promote healing and personal transformation.
