About Kamakura Ikigai Retreat

Mission & Vision

We are a Japanese retreat team based in Kamakura, the birthplace of Zen — 60 minutes from Tokyo. Our retreats are designed in Japan, by Japanese facilitators, from within the culture where IKIGAI was born. Rather than teaching IKIGAI as a Western framework of "doing", we teach it as a practice of "being": in the age of AI, discovering what only you can be.

The team is led by Kouji Miki (CEO, enmono Inc.; founder of ZenSchool®, founded 2011, 65+ cohorts; co-founder of Zen2.0, the international Zen & mindfulness gathering launched at Kencho-ji Temple in 2017) and Shigeru Utsunomiya (Director, enmono Inc.).

Venue & Amenities

Venue & Amenities
Kamakura is where Zen Buddhism took root in Japan 800 years ago. For centuries, samurai warriors and monks came here seeking clarity in times of transition. You will walk the same ancient paths, breathe the same temple air, and tap into the same source of wisdom that has guided leaders for generations. This is not a theme park or a tourist simulation. This is the real thing.
