La Medicina

Ayahuasca, the plant medicine is a very special intelligent living being who understands you and your body on all levels, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Several years ago I first came to the medicine with one big theme (one huge issue I had growing up). That theme then came with many different intentions along the way. And now all of those intentions have been fulfilled and answered. I completely healed many of my deep-rooted traumas on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. Most excitingly, I learned a ton about myself in the process. Needless to say, I have my utmost faith in the medicine.

Yet not every place that serves Ayahuasca is the same. Understood that choosing the right center that serves the plant medicine in a safe yet powerful way is extremely important, I did my rigorous searching. I wanted to find a place that is authentic and not commercially hyped, a place whose practices follow time-tested, indigenous, traditional methods. And I found La Medicina. La Medicina is a healing center serving Ayahuasca in the Amazon jungle in Peru and it holds exactly the high values and standards I was looking for. In fact, 3 weeks ago I just came back to La Medicina for my 4th retreat there. Every time I came back, it became more and more evident to me their consistent commitment to high standards of practice, authenticity and professionalism.

At La Medicina, under Vlad’s management and containment, your safety, your healing, and your physical and emotional well-being are their top priority. You will be very impressed with everything they do, from how the plants are ethically harvested and cooked potent exactly what it claims to be without adulteration or mixed with inferior substances, to the powerhouse shamans who work powerfully with surgical precision, to the rituals, to the well-protected healing space where the shamans actively absorb, neutralize, and clear heavy negative energies from the participants while also act as an energetic anchor for the space, to the facilitators who are super supportive of your process. They listen and they have deep understanding of what you’re going through. They know exactly what need to be done to nurture your progress. They understand deeply how the medicine works and how to hold space for you in order to maximize the power of the medicine and to ensure your safety at the same time. Additionally, after you go home, they also offer structured support to help you process the experience. All of this keep me coming back again and again.

I highly recommend La Medicina if you ever feel the call or feel the need to sit with this very special being of plant medicine. I’m confident you will agree with me that La Medicina holds high integrity for their work. It is at La Medicina where you ignite your healing magic when your courage meet with the power of the medicine. I know I did. I become the person I once knew I could be. And I wish the same for everyone. It is a miracle came true that today I could say that my big theme that I came to Ayahuasca with has been completely resolved. I attended a 6-day retreat at La Medicina in September 2026, and I have been deeply touched by the experience. It was my first time there, and I was genuinely captivated by the location, the people, and the power of the experience.
The location is spectacular: you are immersed in the jungle and surrounded by its “noise”—which was a magical experience in itself!— as well as its incredible flora and fauna and all the surprises that come with it. Every day, you encounter beautiful and colourful wildlife you have never seen before.
The facilitators are kind, experienced, and incredibly friendly, and they are always happy to answer any questions you may have. The staff members always have a smile on their faces, and the food is healthy and delicious. I am vegan and gluten-free, and they were able to accommodate my dietary needs with ease.
It is much harder to find the right words to describe the experience with the Medicine itself. The presence and power of the Shipibo Maestros was palpable, each bringing more than 20 and 30 years of experience working with the plant medicine. Their presence and the power of their Icaros were incredibly moving, yet everything was accompanied by smiles, humility, and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
The ceremonies, as well as the preparation and integration sessions before and after them, were thoughtfully designed and clearly explained to the group. There were both communal and private sessions, and I went into every ceremony feeling prepared and ready for the experience.
I’m writing this review two weeks after returning home, and I am still vibrating with the power of the experience and with an inner openness of the heart that is difficult to put into words.

I attended my first ever Ayahuasca ceremony at La Medicina. I journeyed by myself to the Amazon from NYC (a whole other jungle). I was nervous, tired from the pre ceremony dieta and had a handful of friends telling me I was insane. I heard the call from Spirit and I answers. I pull tarot and got the best cards for this center. It was an experience beyond my comprehension. It was scary, it was confronting and it was simultaneously healing and beautiful. The facilitators are kind, supportive and real. The Curanderos are gifted, loving and incredibly generous with their gifts and energy. The land was beautiful and though it took me a solid 24 hours to adjust from car horns and screaming to the amazing orchestra of insect sounds at night, by day 3, it started to feel like home. I have no single experience to point out that was extraordinary, the experience as a whole was everything one would need when taking this journey. It is a very sacred and personal one, but the team from facilitators to groundskeepers at La Medicina all played a crucial role in ensuring it was what was needed to support one in that very personal experience. I highly recommend La Medicina for a first, second or third experience and look forward to going again. P.S. I always felt 1000% safe in all respects. 💜🌙
