There are old ways of tending to grief- through ritual, through the body, through the elements of nature. In this retreat, we re-connect to those old ways.
Day 1 – Arrival | Threshold Crossing
Theme: Arriving, Softening, Opening
This is a day of crossing the threshold—from the outside world into a safe and tender space held with intention and care, where grief is honored and all of you is welcome.
Arrival + nourishment
Settling into your cabins and a tour of the retreat space
Guided grounding meditation
Opening Circle: intentions and co-creating the container

This day is about dropping in emotionally, mentally and physically
Day 2 – Fire | Release & Transmutation
Theme: Honoring the internal spark and releasing/ burning what you are ready to let go of
Fire is the element of transformation—the realm that allows us to release, alchemize, and begin again. We will begin to kindle the flame of initiation, marking the entrance to our exploration of grief as a rite of passage.

Fire release ritual at the labyrinth bonfire, continuing with the theme of release and transmutation

Day 3 – Air | Consciousness & the Liminal
Theme: Breath, Spirit, and the In-between
Air connects us to the unseen- ancestors, loved ones gone too soon, the liminal space, what was and what is becoming. This is the realm of spirit, voice, smoke and expanded awareness.

Smudging/cleansing ceremony with smoke of copal or sage and opening ritual
Plant medicine ceremony in late afternoon

This day is about expansion, consciousness, surrender, and entering the mystery.
Day 4 — Water | Integration, Emotions & Deep Listening
Theme: Introspection/What Has Been Revealed
Water teaches us how to feel, to flow, to listen inwardly. After the depths of the previous day, we begin the process of integration, inviting insights and new perspectives to gently bubble up to the surface.

Riverside soundbath (let the soothing sounds of the river and Tibetan bowls support your nervous system regulation and emotional integration)
Soak in wood-fired hot pools with optional cold plunge in the river

This day is about tending, nurturing, listening, and receiving.
Day 5 – Earth | Embodiment, Grounding & Becoming
Theme: Rooting Into Your New Self
This is a day of embodiment, incorporating grounding, Earth-based activities to deepen the roots of integration.

Grounding practices to anchor your experience and new perspectives into daily life
Herbalism activity as a reminder of nature’s capacity to nurture us
Lunch
Forest bathing hike and creation of a collective Earth mandala
Medicine music to honor the resilience of the human spirit and mark/celebrate our emergence on the other side of initiation.
Dinner
Free time and/or community fire circle
This day is about becoming—honoring your grief initiation as a source of wisdom, connection, and aliveness.
Day 6- Homecoming
