Ruth is the founder and host of Mi Kiva, a private family estate in Costa Rica that has evolved over three decades into a place for meaningful gathering, connection, and renewal.
Raised between cultures and now based between Costa Rica and the U.S., she brings a deeply personal understanding of what it means to create spaces where people feel both at home and gently expanded. Her upbringing—surrounded by family, community, and an ever-changing flow of guests—shaped her belief that connection, nature, and shared experience are at the heart of a well-lived life.
For the past 10 years, Ruth has been living and raising her family in Costa Rica, building Mi Kiva into a place that reflects her love of beauty, hospitality, and intentional living. Along the way, she has hosted and informally mentored many groups and individuals—creating experiences that feel natural, supportive, and deeply personal rather than structured or prescriptive.
Her connection to this work is also rooted in her relationship with her own daughter, who was largely raised in Costa Rica and shares a deep love for the country, its rhythm, and its way of life. Together, they understand both the beauty and complexity of the teenage years, and the importance of creating space to stay connected through them.
Through a balance of adventure, rest, and shared experience, Ruth invites mothers and teenage daughters to step away from daily life, experience a new culture, and reconnect in a way that feels both grounded and lasting.
At the heart of her work is a simple intention: to create spaces where people feel welcomed, inspired, and more connected—to themselves, to each other, and to the world around them.
