About this Retreat
Details of this retreat
Eight days of ceremony, reflection and rest in a private riverside sanctuary in the Costa Rican rainforest.
Give yourself a week to slow down, listen and meet what is ready to be seen. This retreat brings together ceremony rooted in Amazonian tradition, steady one-on-one support and the quiet of our sanctuary on the Naranjo River, eight miles from Manuel Antonio.
The group is kept to 16 participants at most, and the whole retreat center is yours for the week.
Three nights of ceremony
Three plant medicine ceremonies are held in our octagon fire temple and guided by Juani, who brings more than two decades of experience. Between ceremonies the days open up: sleep, swim, write, or simply be quiet.
Space to understand what arises
Individual counseling sessions and group integration circles help you make sense of each ceremony. After you return home, you can schedule integration support whenever you need it.
Held by the rainforest
Mornings begin with optional yoga and meditation in the open-air shala. You will swim in the river, walk to a rainforest waterfall, spend a day at Manuel Antonio beach, and share fresh, farm-to-table meals with a group that quickly starts to feel like family.
Your facilitator: Juani
Facilitator, traditional Amazonian medicine
Juani's work draws on more than two decades of experience with traditional Amazonian medicine, Indigenous teachings from South and North America, and ongoing collaboration with experts in psychology, medicine and healing. He gathers and cooks the plants himself, cultivating an intimate knowledge of the remedies he serves.
His path began more than 23 years ago with a Brazilian spiritual group, where he met his first teacher in Peruvian vegetalismo. Since then he has studied with Indigenous and mestizo healers throughout Brazil, Peru, Colombia and the United States, developing an approach grounded in self-awareness, conscious living, community service, self-responsibility and the belief that true work happens every day.

These retreats are spiritual and contemplative programs, not medical or psychiatric treatment. Please speak with your healthcare provider about any conditions or medications before you apply.
Your stay protects the rainforest
Posada Natura is the front entrance to more than 10,000 acres of rainforest in the Cerro Nara mountains, protected by Eco Era, a U.S. 501(c)(3). Retreats fund about 80% of that work.
