**Introduction to Ayurveda: Discovering Balance Through the Science of Life**
Facilitator: Rebecca Huck, Certified Ayurvedic Counselor
Intention of the Workshop
The intention of this introductory workshop is for participants to gain a foundational understanding of Ayurveda—what it is, how it supports health and wellbeing, and how its principles can be applied in everyday life.
By the end of the two sessions, participants will understand the basic concepts of Ayurveda, learn about their unique mind-body tendencies, and leave with simple practices that can help cultivate greater balance in mind, body, and spirit.
Workshop 1: Foundations of Ayurveda & Understanding the Doshas
In our first session, participants will be introduced to:
• What Ayurveda is and its purpose
• The history and philosophy of Ayurveda as the sister science of Yoga
• The three pillars of Ayurvedic health
• The Ayurvedic perspective on the root causes of imbalance and disease
• An introduction to the three Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha
• Understanding Prakruti (our natural constitution) and Vikruti (our current state of imbalance)
• How Ayurveda can support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing
Dosha Assessment
Participants will be invited to complete an Ayurvedic Dosha Assessment Questionnaire prior to the retreat. Rebecca will personally review each assessment and provide participants with a summary of their results by email before the second workshop. If they never filled the form out yet, I will remind them to do it at the end of class or a.s.a.p (takes 10 minutes).
This first session is designed to create curiosity, provide a strong foundation in Ayurvedic principles, and help participants begin exploring their own unique nature.
Workshop 2: Dosha Results & Dinacharya – Daily Rituals for Balance and Wellbeing
In our second session, participants will explore their Dosha Assessment results and learn how Ayurveda uses individualized daily routines to support health and balance.
Topics include:
• Understanding Dosha tendencies and common patterns of imbalance
• What is Dinacharya (daily routine) and why it is considered one of Ayurveda's most powerful tools for maintaining health
• 3 simply Ayurvedic self-care practices that can be incorporated into modern life that I always recommend as step one for my clients and they can begin right away!
• How consciously choosing what they do in their routine can affect and improve their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual energy.
The workshop concludes with a 5 minute guided self-care experience, including a simple self-massage practice and grounding meditation that participants can continue using at home.
Both workshops are educational, practical, and accessible to complete beginners. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of Ayurveda, increased awareness of their own patterns and tendencies, and simple tools they can begin implementing immediately.
For those wishing to explore Ayurveda more deeply, Rebecca offers optional private consultations where participants can receive personalized guidance based on their constitution, lifestyle, health goals, and current imbalances.
