Venue & Amenities

Nestled in the foothills of Mount Warning, in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, our Hare Krishna Farm “New Govardhana” is a beautiful 1000 acre property with orchards, organic veggie gardens, cows, horses, streams and swimming holes in abundance.

From the moment when you cross the rustic wooden bridge over the Oxley River and pass through the beckoning avenue of trees which comprises the entrance to the farm, you will notice that this Vedic Yoga Sanctuary is a special place and that your soul finds peace and a sense of coming home.

New Govardhana serves as an ashram to a community of yogis who aspire to live according to their deepest vows and commitments on their path of service, spiritual contentment and happiness (Bhakti Yoga). Their service and dedication make this location a beautiful place of growth, healing and spiritual awakening.

Apart from immersing themselves into their spiritual lives, the devotees also run a school, a cow protection program, big organic gardens and orchards, and an infinite number of yogic festivals and retreats throughout the year. In this context, the Krishna Village serves as an outreach program, inviting retreat guests, course participants and spiritual seekers from all over the world and all ages to participate in the farm\'s activities and experience a simple, happy and wholesome lifestyle.

Learning, yoga, quietness and bliss
Blissful, happy space in beautiful surroundings. I learned a lot from the people I met, the classes I went to and listening at the temple. I relaxed and slept and enjoyed the quiet. The yoga is very good and is part of life and connection to the divine not a gym class! As someone reconnecting with yoga most classes were too challenging for me and I attended the teacher trainee led classes as this I could manage. Kirtan is joyful. The room was very nice and clean and quiet. The food is nourishing and the hill walk to the temple to meal times ensures you deserve it when you get there! The septic tank was my only complaint, especially for my room right next to it, the smell was overwhelmingly bad at times and meant I had to sleep with windows sealed. Some staff at reception were beautiful and helpful, some made you feel like you were an annoyance. The wellness centre offers great treatments.

Beautiful farm, mostly run for social butterflies only
The farm animals, property and facilities were all good, and the staff were friendly. However, the social atmosphere seemed better suited to social butterflies than quieter personalities, with not enough space for people who prefer a calmer environment.

Unfortunately, gossip was still an issue, along with some intense and cliquey social dynamics that could make it difficult to feel comfortable and build genuine connections.

Wonderful getaway
I stayed for 2 nights in cabin 5. It was just so peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was well appointed yet very rustic at the same time. Super comfortable and well priced. I attended the breakfast and dinners. The community was so welcoming, really like a big family. The food was yummy and in abundance. I had a relaxation massage which was superb. The weather was not very kind to me, but everything and everyone else was. I could not recommend highly enough of you want to get away and reconnect with nature. 10 out of 10
