About this event

There's a part of you that has never fully gone quiet. It's the part that wants to stand somewhere wild, do the thing that scares you a little, and feel fully, unmistakably alive. You've probably been telling her "later."

UnBound is eight days of getting her back.

Where we go

We spend the week at Tawa Refugio, a family-run lodge deep in the Puelo Valley of northern Patagonia, Chile. This is rural Patagonia, gaucho country, not a polished resort with a yoga label on it. We go in April, which is mid-autumn there. The forests turn red and gold, the lakes go glassy, mushrooms come up everywhere, and the trails are empty. Our local guides told us it's their favorite month of the year.

What you'll do

Cuatro Lagos: a full day by boat and on foot, deep into back country gauchos have worked for generations
Termas del Sol: ten stone pools fed by the Yate volcano, with steam rising into cold mountain air
Kayaking: a half day on a glassy autumn lake, with the only sound your own paddle
Daily yoga and Yoga Nidra: mornings to wake the body up, evenings to settle it back down

Everything is optional. Some days choosing yourself means sleeping in.

How it works

The retreat is built on the UnBound Method, five threads that run through every practice, hike, and conversation:

Face the fear in a supported group
Reconnect with what lights you up
Build confidence on and off the mat
Practice healthy boundaries
Learn manifestation the grounded way: clarity plus a regulated nervous system plus aligned action over time

It's taught with the science underneath (neuroplasticity, the nervous system, the RAS), not magical thinking.

What you'll leave with

A nervous system that remembers what settled feels like
The self-trust that comes from doing something hard in a wild place
Friendships with women who get it
A clearer sense of what's been depleting you and what you actually want more of
Tools to take home: breathwork, Yoga Nidra, and the science of how change actually happens

Who comes

The group is capped at 14 women, mostly 35–60 and mostly arriving alone. We're business owners, school teachers, techies, Girl Scout leaders, and fellow yoga teachers. You don't need to be an advanced yogi. A basic understanding of yoga is enough, and every class offers options.

Your guide

Autumn Adams (E-RYT 500, YACEP) founded Ambuja Yoga in 2014 and has led 40+ women's retreats and 700+ women since. She teaches yoga grounded in nervous-system science: rest first, and let real change follow. She's the author of The Little Book of Mudra Meditations and has been featured in Insider, Shape, Zappos, and Asia Spa.

"This was literally a life-changing experience. It was worth every penny and more. I felt completely supported, serene, and inspired to attend another retreat in the future." (Lindsey W., Patagonia 2026)

This isn't an escape from your life. It's a few days wild enough to remind you who you are underneath all of it. You don't have to earn it first.

Schedule

Early morning: Wake slowly, with the river instead of your phone
Morning: Yoga practice (Rooted & Radiant Vinyasa, or a slower flow on adventure days)
Breakfast: Buffet at the lodge
Late morning to afternoon: Adventure or rest block, depending on the day. That might be the full-day Cuatro Lagos boat and trek, kayaking, or the Termas del Sol hot springs, or free time for the riverside soaking tubs, a walk, or a nap. Lunch is a three-course meal at the lodge, or a boxed lunch out on excursion days.
Late afternoon: Downtime, or a workshop on some days
Evening: Restorative yoga, Roll & Restore, Yoga Nidra, or a sunset practice
Dinner: A three-course meal together
Night: Fire, soaking tubs, and deep sleep
Note: Schedule is approximate and may change

Accommodation

Tawa Refugio del Puelo sits where Lake Tagua Tagua pours into the Puelo River, ringed by evergreen rainforest and the Andes. It's so far off the map that getting there feels like being let in on a secret. The lodge is wood and glass tucked into the hillside, with windows that frame the water and mountains from nearly every room. The beds are deep. The riverside hot tubs are always waiting at the end of a day outside. When the autumn rain rolls in, the lodge only gets cozier. Tawa is family-run, and they fold you in like you've always belonged there. The staff and guides know every trail and hidden lake in the valley. After January's retreat, Tracy called the accommodations "inspiring," and Vala called Tawa "the best venue with the best food." Every room has river and forest views and a private ensuite bathroom. Choose the room that fits how you recharge.

Meals

Menu

Menu Types

The food at Tawa is some of the best you'll eat anywhere: local, seasonal, and a little show-offy in the very best way. It's cooked by a chef who clearly loves his work. All meals are included: 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 7 dinners. Mornings start with a breakfast buffet before we head out. Lunches and dinners at the lodge are three-course meals. On adventure days, delicious boxed meals come along with us, so you can eat lunch outside with a mountain in front of you. The Chilean diet leans more heavily on animal proteins than you may be used to at home, but vegetarian options are available. Share any dietary needs when you book, and your meals will be prepared with them in mind. For anyone who wants to enjoy them mindfully, Chilean wine, local beer, and craft cocktails are available. Past guests still talk about the food. Vala put it this way: "And the food!! Did I mention the food?? Perfection!"
