Opening to Stillness: A Silent Meditation Retreat to Nourish Self Compassion in Times of Uncertainty
Forget about enlightenment.
Sit down wherever you are
And listen to the wind singing in your veins.
Feel the love, the longing, the fear in your bones.
Open your heart to who you are, right now,
Not who you would like to be,
Not the saint you are striving to become,
But the being right here before you, inside you, around you.
All of you is holy.
You are already more and less
Than whatever you can know.
Breathe out,
Touch in,
Let go.
--By John Welwood
Indralaya, with its beautiful natural setting of sea-, meadow- and forestscapes, and palpable living history of meditation and healing practice, will provide an exquisite container to support our experience of stillness, self compassion, and of “coming home to self.”

Join us in this welcoming space as we turn inward to nourish body, mind, and spirit in these times of uncertainty and challenge. This retreat is open to experienced meditators, as well as those who are new to meditation and curious about silent meditation retreats.

Participating in intentional silence and meditation in community can help us open to deeper levels of stillness within ourselves. The nourishment and grounding this provides supports a more appreciative and mindful engagement with the circumstances that arise in our daily lives.

Program
Silence will begin Thursday evening after the program orientation and end before breakfast on Sunday.  The schedule will include silent, guided and walking meditation sessions and experiential exercises focusing on mindfulness and self-compassion. There will also be time to just wander and be.
Leonie van Gelder and Tama Recker look forward to sharing this retreat focused on self-compassion and connection.

Things to bring/not bring:

Bring journals/paper and very basic art materials if you are so inclined.
Walking outside will be part of the practice so please bring walking shoes and clothing layers for rain and shine. You may also want to bring slippers for inside the meditation space.
There are some meditation cushions available, but you may want to bring your own cushion or bench.  Note: Chairs are available for sitting.
Bring your own meditation blanket.
Please do not bring books to read.

Loving Family Camp, Week 1
All 5 of us in our family had a wonderful time at camp. For one of the grandkids, it was her first time at Indralaya and she loved it right away. We were especially lucky with the weather, which made everything more enjoyable. There was a lovely mix of activities, as usual. Our Program Leaders were all terrific - John, Sarah, Kimberly & Biff. We are so lucky to have John sharing his music and organizing our fantastic talent show. Biff did a beautiful job leading the honoring of the ages ritual. David was great as Sock Hop DJ. The campfire S'mores were delish. Special thanks to Glena for offering us mosaic tile projects all week. Huge thanks to all the Centering Circle Leaders. Alice did a wonderful job with our adult group. Kari, as always, was a fabulous head cook. And Andrie was so positive and upbeat as Camp Manager for the week.
For our two young grandkids, highlights were: ping pong, Near East Beach, arts & crafts, and root beer floats!

An absolutely ultimate week with excellent leaders, delicious meals, well organized programs, a variety of art/music activities along with campfires, labyrinth walk to honour the ages, a dance, games, outdoor races and much more.

Lots of opportunities to enjoy the wonderful property and beaches.

A special place to celebrate with family and meet lots of new people.

Lisa r
I enjoyed the content and singing
I didn’t share the morning and dinner meals because i was weaving this between my local responsibilities.
I signed up for staff but never received info on how many hours and what I would be doing
When I found it would be three hours a day with no schedule . This felt stressful
I tried to be available
I won’t be doing this again
I wish you were more flexible for locals who don’t want all of the meals meals
Thanks

Magical
Indralaya is a magical place full of beauty, peace, and good food. I was attending a singing retreat and was impressed with the facilities, from the dining room/lounge, to the orchard grounds and garden, to the comfortable Roundhouse where I stayed. Great walks in the forest and beach too. I appreciate the attitude of oneness and love that permeates Indralaya. May it be here forever. Let’s sing!

Deep Singing
My oh my, what an amazing singing retreat. Definitely goes down in my book as one of my most uplifting, nourishing, enjoyable and deeply connecting with others, weeks that I can remember. In addition the accommodations, delicious meals, reasonable program schedule, talented and personable leaders all made this program so special. Magical is a great word to describe my experience. Hope for me and others that this program goes on for years (and generations) to come. Deep bows of gratitude for all that went into making this week so wonderful!

PS I am a long time Indralaya and have experienced other wonderful program offerings since 1999., including four other Deep Singing Retreats.
