San Pedro cactus
Trichocereus Pachanoi is the botanical name of the night blooming and mescaline-bearing columnar cactus commonly known as San Pedro, formerly known as wachuma to the indigenous incan. San Pedro is Native to Andean Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. The sacramental use of the plant goes back in history to 2,000 B.C. In the ceremonial centre of Chavin de Huántar, Peru a stone frieze depicts a wachuma cactus (San pedro)
The medicine is typically prepared as a tea, pieces of the cactus are boiled for a few hours and is drunk as part of a ceremony. San Pedro has been used as a visionary plant to heighten one's consciousness and to connect oneself with the divine essence of his existence. It allows for deep healing both physical, emotional and spiritual and through purifying and balancing the body, mind, and spirit, it facilitates Harmony allowing for a more heart-centered way of living allowing for a greater sense of well-being, love and affinity for others, and a deeper connectedness with Pachamama.
