- Working with a skilled Ecuadorian taita, curandero, shaman, with nearly 30 years of experience. Taita Miguel is an excellent healer and has helped heal folks of several types of cancer, other terminal illness, serious addictions, kidney failure, pancreatitis, blindness, other physical, emotional and mental health illnesses. He is humble and down to earth and is happy to share his wisdom with kind, strong and willing students.

Taita Miguel
Curandero
Taita Miguel is a curandero, or taita, from Ecuador, with 28 years of experience working with sacred plants like Ayahuasca, San Pedro and Wilka. After a difficult childhood and youth, he found healing with the medicine San Pedro. He began helping taitas of the Andes, and then some years later began doing his own ceremonies. He was then introduced to Wilka by a Bolivian shaman who initiated him into this almost-lost tradition. He was then finally introduced to Ayahuasca, and learned to work with this sacred medicine as well with the Shuar native people of Gualaquiza.

This is a private initiation into the world of plant medicines with an experienced taita, or shaman, from Ecuador with 29 years of experience working with Ayahuasca, San Pedro and a sacred medicine called Wilka. There are several different training programs where you will dive deep into the medicines, take part in sacred initiation rituals, and further your path of becoming a medicine man or woman. This is an intimate program done 1:1, or it is possible to come with a friend or partner at the same time.

2-Month Intensive Medicine Immersion – $8,800 USD
AYAHUASCA AND HUACHUMA (SAN PEDRO) TRAINING PROGRAM
An in-depth, immersive experience for those ready to deepen their relationship with the plants and themselves. This is a personal initiation, requiring courage, openness, and dedication.
Includes:
- 3 ceremonies per week with Ayahuasca, San Pedro, and Wilka
- 5 days a week you will have classes with Taita Miguel
- A 5-day/4-night solo fire vigil with Grandfather Fire
- Harvest and learn to prepare all the medicines. We will take a trip to the jungle for a few days and you will harvest Ayahuasca. We will harvest and cook San Pedro in the mountains where we live.
- A 9-day Novenary ritual with the medicine (3 ceremonies per week, in isolation)
- A 9-day Novenary ritual with Grandfather Tobacco (drink, inhale through the nose as water, and as hape, 3x per day for 9 days)
- Vision quest tailored to your personal capacity
- Study of medicine songs (icaros) — how to receive them, sing them, and use them for healing
- Training in energy cleansing, with and without plants
- Walks to sacred rivers, waterfalls, and mountains
- Learn to connect with your friendly spirits
- Learn different ways of leading ceremony, how to guide and move energies
- Learn about spiritual protection
- Learn about Grandfather Tobacco
Includes accomodations, food, all ceremonies and classes.
Students live independently in a private house with electricity, water, Wi-Fi, swimming pool. Students cook their own food, learning self-reliance alongside spiritual discipline.

ONLY DIFFERENCE - In the 40 day program, you will not have the vision quest ritual at the end, and we will not go to the jungle to harvest medicine.
16-DAY WILKA MEDICINE APPRENTICESHIP - $5500 USD
Mama Wilka (Anadenanthera colubrina) is a rare and powerful ancestral medicine, once used by the Mayo-Chinchipe culture, potentially the spiritual ancestors of the Inca.
This program offers a rare opportunity to:
- Work with a medicine of 4,000+ years of history
- Prepare and receive Wilka in a sacred, ceremonial way
- Heal from deep-rooted traumas, addictions, and spiritual blockages
- Enter altered states of consciousness to access the golden treasures of spirit
- Be initiated into the ancient Huaca lineage of the Andes
Only for those truly called — the spirit of Wilka does not open her doors easily.

Getting Here

Directions
To arrive to Malacatos:
OPTION 1 (FASTEST): You can fly to the Quito airport and take another flight to Loja (called Catamayo airport). From there you will take a taxi to Malacatos. The flight is around $80 and the taxi is $25.
OPTION 2: Fly to Quito or Guayaquil airports (Guayaquil is closer) and take a bus to Loja (about $20). From there, you can take a taxi ($20) or bus ($2) to Malacatos.

Accommodation
Each room offers a spacious, open, and comfortable sanctuary designed for rest and reflection between ceremonies. Large windows invite in natural light and mountain air, creating a serene connection to the surrounding nature. The rooms are simply furnished yet cozy, with thoughtful touches that support grounding and relaxation—your own peaceful space to integrate, dream, and restore. The home is nestled in the Andes and also has a spa on site with jacuzzi, steam room and pool. There is hot water, wifi and laundry available on site.

We host retreats in Malacatos, Ecuador. We are in the Andes mountains where it is eternal spring weather - 70s F every day. The house is nice, rustic, with private and shared rooms available, hot water, wifi, comfy beds.
