Praying Scripture with an eye toward encountering Christ

A retreat led by the Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies team: Vern Steiner, Chad Steiner, and Josh Burks

Virtual Retreat with lifetime recordings includes six conferences and a Retreat Guide handout.

Join the Emmaus Institute at Our Lady of Good Counsel for a weekend retreat devoted to encountering our Lord in the pages of Sacred Scripture. This retreat will guide you in approaching the Bible with clarity, reverence, and conviction, helping those from all walks of life to acquire the necessary skills to read God’s Word comprehensibly and to encounter Jesus powerfully in every page.

“For in the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven meets His children with great love and speaks with them...” (Dei Verbum §21). Learn to pray with Scripture through different forms like Lectio Divina or Ignatian Prayer. Hear what the voice of God sounds like. Vern Steiner, director of the Emmaus Institute, and teachers Chad Steiner and Josh Burks will each offer talks developing how the Sacred Scriptures are not a dead word, but apply to the reality of our lives today.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a sanctuary of prayer and recollection on a spacious acreage near Waverly, Nebraska.
