Different tools to Facilitate Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, also known as “Yogic Sleep,” is the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state. This powerful practice rooted in ancient Indian traditions was popularized in the West by Swami Satyananda. In that state of deep relaxation and beyond the three normal states of consciousness, It opens the door to the fourth state of consciousness, known as Turiya.

By practicing Yoga Nidra, you can reduce anxiety, stress, fatigue, exhaustion . You’ll experience increased immune function.Yoga Nidra also allows you to access the space between thoughts, beyond the mind.

In this space, you reset your body, expand your mind, and gain a different perspective.

The Origin and Philosophy

The practice of Yoga Nidra has its origins in the ancient yogic texts, particularly the Upanishads. It is closely associated with Sankhya philosophy, which emphasizes the mind's role in our perception of reality. In Yoga Nidra, practitioners explore the layers of existence, moving from the physical body to the emotional, mental, and spiritual realms.

The Practice

Yoga Nidra is typically practiced lying down in a comfortable position, often in Savasana (Corpse Pose). The session usually begins with setting an intention (Sankalpa) then the instructor leads the practitioner through various stages:

-Understanding the koshas , the layers of bodies

- Breath Awareness

-Sense Withdrawal: Gradually removing focus from external stimuli

-Visualization: Engaging the imagination to create peaceful imagery, helping to cultivate relaxation and positive emotions.

-Affirmations: Reiterating positive affirmations to instill confidence and clarity.

This is an opportunity to dive deep into Yoga Nidra in this immersive, hands on two day training that will give you the confidence to teach and offer this practice of conscious deep relaxation.

Perfect Stay
We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful, charming cabin! It was the perfect setting for a family weekend, with plenty of space for everyone to gather and celebrate. The rooms were quaint and cozy, each one full of character and comfort. We especially loved the variety of common areas—ideal for both big group moments and smaller, more intimate conversations. Every little nook seemed made for laughter, reminiscing, and connection. Truly a magical spot that made our special occasion even more unforgettable. Highly recommend for any gathering or getaway!

A Room of One's Own Writing Residency at The Seed Lodge was just what I needed
Esther, Ma'amo and Bella were great hosts. I was the first to arrive at the Lodge (thanks to Esther for picking me up at in Toronto) so had the first pick of the rooms. I'm sure they were all great but I loved my room. It had decent lighting and everything I needed for my 7-day writing getaway. The lodge itself was clean. Never had to wait my turn to use the communal washroom. The kitchen was well-equipped. The place was spacious enough for all the writers to find a spot/nook to settle into. Though it was once a school, it had a homey-vibe...with the piano, the art supplies, guitars kicking about, nice alcove seating areas. Another great perk were the breathing technique sessions led by Esther. These would happen at 6:30 in the morning in the upstairs loft. What a great way to start my writing day.

I appreciated a good balance of quiet time and social time with the other writers. It rained a lot while I was there...which sort of worked out well for me because I would've been enticed to head out doors more. I would've insisted on a campfire, made more of an effort to go on nearby hikes. But alas, I was meant to stay by the desk and be a homebody.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway, to get some writing done.

More than i could ask for
A beautiful winter weekend. The hearth, the kitchen was so abundant with Maria making clean, delicious dishes. Esther turned all that good energy into awareness with the full schedule of breath work and yoga. Somehow there was enough time to meet other guests, great encounters, in the sauna and on snow shoes. Highly recommended. Two hours from the GTA, and a total refresh
