About this Retreat
Monika has been teaching and practicing yoga for 9 years, blending her passion for Bhakti Yoga with a deep commitment to the path of yoga. Her training spans both India and Canada, offering a foundation in various yoga traditions. Monika works with energy, teaches Punk Rock Yoga, and leads Nada Yoga—the yoga of sound and vibration—focusing on the transformative power of sound for healing and connection.
In 2020, Monika founded Church444, an alternative wellness community centered on yoga, the arts, and mental health. She now co-owns So’ham Studio in Hamilton, Ontario, where she continues to build meaningful connections and community through yoga.
Having traveled extensively, Monika has shared her teachings globally through workshops and retreats. Born in Croatia, she is excited to guide participants on a Bhakti adventure through her beautiful homeland, sharing both her love for yoga and her cultural heritage. Her dedication to merging science with spirituality inspires her teaching, helping people reconnect with their true nature and deepen their self-awareness.
Paramananda has been on the path of yoga for over 25 years. His journey toward higher consciousness began early in life as a punk guitarist in New York City’s hardcore scene, playing blaring rebel anthems in bands like Youth of Today, Judge, and Shelter. In a music scene rife with drugs, negativity, and violence, Youth of Today championed a straight-edge lifestyle focused on positive thinking, empowerment, and freedom from drugs and alcohol. Shelter took it further, incorporating Eastern spirituality, yoga ethics, and self-discovery into their music. With hundreds of thousands of records sold, the band toured globally, offering a message of hope to Generation X kids seeking something higher.
Inspired by the Krishna Bhakti tradition, Paramananda immersed himself in ashrams, studying Sanskrit texts, meditation, kirtan (chanting sacred mantras), and Bhakti Yoga. He made annual pilgrimages to India, learning to live the yogic life in its birthplace.
With a desire to share his knowledge, Paramananda became a yoga teacher, specializing in arm balances, inversions, kirtan, and storytelling from the ancient wisdom literature of India.

Our Bhakti Yoga Retreat is a unique opportunity to connect with your true self, cultivate devotion, and immerse yourself in the wisdom of ancient practices, all while experiencing the breathtaking beauty of Croatia's landscapes and heritage.
Over 9 days and 8 nights, we will guide you through a series of yoga classes, workshops, and cultural excursions that integrate the teachings of Bhakti Yoga—the yoga of devotion and love. Daily practices include japa meditation, Kirtan (chanting of sacred mantras), and Vedic storytelling, offering a deep immersion in the transformative power of sound and vibration. These practices, along with yoga asana classes, create a space for self-discovery and adventure.
The retreat will be held in two stunning locations. Begin your journey at Ekodrom Estate, an eco-retreat nestled in the peaceful hills of Croatia. Here, you will stay in beautifully restored stone cottages, surrounded by nature, where you can relax in hot tubs, saunas, and hammocks, or explore the surrounding forests and organic gardens. Your days will be filled with nourishing meals, sacred practices, and meaningful connections with fellow participants.
Next, we travel to Zadar, a coastal sanctuary where the rhythm of the sea and the ancient energy of this historic city offer the perfect environment for inner exploration. Enjoy daily meditations, kirtan, and coastal excursions, where you will have the chance to swim in the pristine waters of the Adriatic, connect with local culture, and deepen your practice in a beautiful, peaceful setting.
Throughout the retreat, you will also experience transformative workshops led by experienced teachers, including Bhakti Yoga philosophy, self-discovery practices, and teachings on sound healing through Nada Yoga. With an emphasis on devotion, service, and community, this retreat offers a unique opportunity to explore both your inner world and the vibrant cultural heritage of Croatia.
