Retreat Highlights

  • Meditation: Metta, Elemental, and Somatic Meditation
  • Mindfulness: We will practice mindful movement, mindful cooking, eating (and mindful collaborative clean-up), and mindful speaking
  • Movement: We will dance, walk, and do Somatics (including Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, and/or Body-Mind Centering.
  • Community and Connection: We will explore our connections to ourselves, each other, and to nature, and we will practice nonviolent and mindful communication skills.
  • Creativity: Using creative prompts, we will write, journal, or you're invited to bring tools to practice your favorite art form.

IN THE LAND OF THE REDWOODS:

Join a small group of women on a creative journey in Humboldt County of Northern California. Together, we'll retreat to the woods to create, play, move our bodies, quiet our minds and connect to our whole selves, to nature and to each other.

My vision for us is to create a sense of belonging in beloved community in which we move our bodies, deepen our connection to our natural world, practice mindful communication, meditation, breathwork, mindful living, and writing (or your favorite artform). The central theme to our retreat is connection, and we'll be specifically exploring our connections to our bodies via:
Somatic Meditation (including meditating with elements in nature), Mindful-Self Compassion, Awareness Through Movement Lessons, Dance, Mindful Walking, Alexander Technique and Body-Mind Centering.

This retreat is for you if:
Your inner critic, inner child, inner perfectionist or inner judge are longing for you attention
You long to bring compassion and empathy to all your parts and the parts of others
You want to unleash your creativity, allow your heart to grieve, heal, play, or to guide you
You want to live more embodied or to stay in the present regardless of external conditions
You simply need time to rejuvenate and connect to yourself, nature, and/or other women in order
You want to nourish yourself in order to reconnect to your vision and purpose

Schedule

First afternoon: Opening Ceremony, Dinner, and Meditation
Second & Third Days: Morning Movement and Mindfulness; Mindful Breakfast; Free Time; Afternoon Creativity; Communication, Dance; Mindfulness, or Nature Immersion; Mindful Lunch & Dinner; Meditation
Closing Morning: Meditation, Breakfast, and Closing Ceremony

Directions

Approximately 5 hours from the San Francisco Airport. Arcata is the closest airport, and airport transfers may be possible from there. Santa Rosa is the next closest airport. Unless flying into/from Arcata, a car will be necessary (for example: from San Francisco or Santa Rosa).

Accommodation

Most rooms will be private with at least a full-size bed. One room will have up to three people. Bathrooms are shared. These are nice, boutique home-stays.

We will be near redwoods or near the Pacific Ocean, close to the Avenue of the Giants or the Lost Coast.
Hot tub will be available for morning or evening soaks.

Meals

Menu Types

Simple vegetarian meals: fruit, yoghurt, bread, or eggs; sandwiches and salads; rice dishes with one plant-based protein

What's Included

  • 8 vegetarian meals, collaboratively prepared in community and mindfully consumed
  • 3 nights lodging -- single, in at least a full-size bed, or a shared room with up to 3 twin beds
  • 12+ hours of classes + mindful practices at each meal + 2 hours of nature immersion (will be done inside if raining)
