Licensed Psychologist, Master's Degree Gottman Method Level 3 18+ years of experience 30+ nationalities clientele Evidence-based therapy Dr. Astrid Matarrita is a Costa Rican board certified Clinical Psychologist & Couples Counsellor with over 18 years of experience working with an international clientele. She founded her private practice, Saigon Psychology & Counseling, in 2010 while living as an expatriate spouse in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, later expanding her work across Vietnam, Hong Kong, and now Latin America. In addition to her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, she is trained in the Gottman Method Level III (completed in Australia and Singapore), placing her among the few clinicians in both Southeast Asia and LATAM with advanced certification and extensive cross cultural experience in couples therapy. From 2021 to 2023, she served as Chair of the Women in Leadership Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, a role that reflected the reputation of her private practice within the international community and the professional trust placed in her leadership. Her work is grounded in psychological science and shaped by years of clinical depth, global exposure, and refined therapeutic judgment.
