Details of this retreat
With advances in neuroimaging, researchers can now observe how yoga, meditation, and mindfulness reshape our brain function, influence our neural pathways, regulate our nervous system, and support overall mental and physical health. We know these practices improve resiliency, self-regulation, mood, and overall well-being—but why do they work?
This innovative certification program will give you a deeper understanding of the science behind the yoga and meditation practices. You’ll learn to view yoga through the lens of neuroscience, empowering clinicians, teachers, and students to work more skillfully with the vagus nerve, support healing, and regulate the nervous system. The Neuro-Yoga Psychology Model will also be presented along with an understanding of which yoga practices activate and regulate the vagus nerve.
A sampling of what will be taught:
An introduction to brain basics and the nervous system.
The Five Foundational Concepts of Neuro-Yoga Psychology Model.
A review of neuroscience research studies
An understanding of the vagus nerve and its relationship to Yoga
How to practice and teach a Neuro-Yoga Hatha class
