This 8-day transformative cacao retreat offers a truly immersive and spiritual journey, inviting participants to connect deeply with the sacred energy of cacao in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Set in the lush mountains of Cocachimba, Peru, the retreat surrounds you with pristine nature— rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and a deep sense of indigenous wisdom. Join us and be transformed through a spiritual and neuroplastic re-birth using cacao. A small intimate group of up to 10 people, you will receive one-on-one guidance and support throughout your retreat from authentic facilitators fluent in both English and Spanish. This retreat is one of a kind as it incorporates modern neuroscience to explain ancestral concepts to assist you to better fuse ancestral cacao into your modern world.

Schedule

Arrival: Arrive at Chachapoyas Airport in Amazonas, Peru.
Transfer: Travel to Jaén for a visit to the ancient cacao temple, Montegrande — home to the world’s oldest cacao species.
Guided Tour: Experience a guided tour led by an expert on Huaca Montegrande, exploring its mysticism and profound cultural significance.
Cacao Fire Ceremony: Participate in a welcoming cacao fire ceremony, a powerful ritual to receive the energy of the ancient cacao wak’a (sacred site). This ceremony will set intention and help ground us in the potent energy of cacao and prepare us for the journey ahead.
Dinner: Conclude the day with a nourishing meal prepared with locally sourced ingredients, highlighting the energy and healing power of cacao in its homeland of Jaén.

Early Start: Prepare for an early morning departure as we head into the lush jungle of Jaén.
Cacao Farm Visit: Explore a cacao farm that nurtures the ancient cacao species, learning firsthand how the land and tradition sustain this sacred plant.
Guided Meditation & Cacao Ritual: Begin the day with a guided meditation and cacao ritual to open the heart and connect with the spirit of cacao. This will be followed by a special moment to ask permission from the jungle to enter her sacred space.
Taste fresh cacao fruit: Sample a range of different cacao varieties, opening your own pods and savouring the delicious sweet fruit inside.
Indigenous Techniques: Learn about ancient indigenous cacao harvesting, drying, fermentation, and cultivation techniques passed down through generations.
Cacao Process: Gain a deeper understanding of the cacao production process—from pod to table. Collect a handful of cacao pods to take away and enjoy during the rest of your experience.
Flora and Fauna: Discover the region's rich flora and fauna as the local farmers guide us through their lush environment.
Finish the day, travelling to our retreat centre, our amazing home for the next days.

Directions

Fly into Chachapoyas from Lima and we will meet you at the airport. We can assist with booking flights or travel around Peru. All our facilitators are fluent in English and Spanish.

Accommodation

Eco rooms are built with comfort in mind but allowing views and connection to the surrounding environment. Rooms are spacious and have their own in-built bathroom facilities. We offer shared or private room options.

The retreat centre is located between Chachapoyas and Jaen, it has spectacular view over the Amazon and the surrounding mountains, including the cascading Gocta waterfall. It has spacious outdoor areas to connect to nature and dive deep during our retreat workshops. The altitiude is around 2000m (6500ft) above sea level meaning the temperature is perfect for basking in the daytime sun without the scorching heat of the amazon.
