About this Retreat
Emily is the founder of Wild Thing Retreats and The Movement, a yoga studio in Sussex, England. Originally from southern California and with a background in dance, Emily has been practicing yoga since 2000 and teaching since 2014. She’s a senior yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals, and has run yoga teacher trainings and retreats all over the world.
She discovered yoga in 2000 in a warehouse in Los Angeles with a hundred people crammed together mat-to-mat, and has been hooked ever since. Yoga has seen her through ten years in Corporate America, a professional dance career, motherhood (still in the trenches on that one!) and now she’s sharing what she’s learned and learning along the way. She’s constantly learning about the body, the breath, the spirit, how we move, why we move, and how it all relates... and this exploration fascinates her and keeps her moving, breathing, and trying to share her findings.
She enjoys teaching a slow but strong vinyasa flow, mixed with pranayama, restorative, and yoga nidra. She’s passionate about using the breath as a tool to create change in the body and the mind, and aims to create a space for people to improve their lives from the inside out.
When not teaching yoga, she is hanging out with her two teenage boys in the English countryside, travelling, reading, and writing.
Kate is an experienced yoga teacher and studio owner. She worked for 15 years in corporate communication as a film producer at an internationally renowned London corporate production company. During this time, she developed a daily yoga practice as a counter to the physical and mental demands of her job. After taking time out to become a mum to 3 kids, Kate trained to teach yoga in 2013. She’s been working as a full-time yoga teacher since 2016.
Kate now teaches a diverse range of classes, from sessions for corporate clients in Sussex and London, running and managing her own open classes, through a variety of tailored 1-1 private sessions to specialised classes with pregnant and postnatal women, plus weekly combined yoga and physiotherapy classes run jointly with a physiotherapist. Kate is qualified to teach hatha, vinyasa, restorative, postnatal and pregnancy yoga.
