About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Taita José Fernando Jojoa is an experienced Indigenous healer and spiritual guide from the Inga Tribe of the Putumayo region in the Colombian Amazon. He comes from the respected Jojoa family lineage, a tradition of medicine men that has been passed down through generations.
Fernando’s relationship with ancestral medicine began at a young age through years of dedicated apprenticeship, ceremony, and connection with the plants. Today, he continues this tradition by cultivating and preparing his own Ayahuasca in Putumayo, maintaining a deep relationship with the medicine and the teachings of his ancestors.
Known for his humble, gentle, and grounded presence, Taita Fernando creates a ceremonial space that is both deeply powerful and supportive. Through his guidance, traditional songs (icaros), and spiritual work, he accompanies guests through profound inner journeys with care and respect.
Beyond his role as a Taita, Fernando is also a gifted musician, bringing the healing power of sound and ancestral songs into ceremony. His commitment is to share the wisdom of his lineage while honoring each person’s unique path of healing, growth, and transformation.

Taita Fernando was so attentive through every ceremony ensuring every participants experience with the plant medicine was safe & beautiful. His musical talents bring the ceremony experience full circle with his soothing voice along with his guitars & flutes. He went out of his way to ensure everyone was safe & takes the space seriously. I enjoyed how we connected at the last ceremony & am eternally grateful for his support & validation on my journey & how I was feeling. He understands a woman is powerful & respects us as a whole. I wish I could truly put into words just how powerful yet calming his presence is & I wish him nothing but the best on his journey in shamanism. Thank you Taita!
