Bufo Alvarius Sanctuary

I had a great experience at Bufo Alvarius Sanctuary, starting with a sauna and cold plunge, then the Kambo. This was a very cleansing experience lasting beyond the experience in the teepee with Amanda. I did the float tank which was my least favorite, I've done float tanks before that were better. The size of the tank, the fact that it had something sticking up i the middle of it and thee way I floated around in it was uncomfortable. Psilocybin, being a non-specific amplifier made it more so, the time in my room after, with the psilocybin alone was also not the best experience, not a bad trip, but I think would have been enhanced with a guide or in a different setting. However, all was redeemed with the bufo experience with Amanda and Carlos the next day. The splendid experience of unity and bliss will be with me for a while (still with me after months) I am most thankful for.

When my partner and I arrived there had been a miscommunication and the wrong room was booked. To not leave us dissatisfied dr alvarius was sure to make ammends by offering us a few things on the house which was a great gesture. As for the bufo and ceremony my partner and i had much anxiety about it but after meeting and talking to the facilitators we felt much relief. The faciliatators were warm and kind. Adrian and tiffany were fantastic. We would reccomend this place to anyone. Very safe and secure place.

I write this review honestly from my perspective with love and gratitude and with some suggestions.

First of all, thank you so much to my facilitators Mario and Jenny. They were the perfect guides along a most profound awakening journey. They held space for me in the most loving and kind way possible. The Kambo cleansed me and the bufo blew me open I simply cannot describe how profound this was for me and I'm eternally grateful.

That being said, here is my honest review of the retreat package I purchased. It was not as described. The package is advertised as being an inclusive experience that includes two meals a day, a sound healing, and a sauna. Unfortunately, none of these were acknowledged or honored by the owner or hotel staff. When I brought this up, the hotel owner kindly gave me $700 pesos and recommended a few nearby restaurants. While this was appreciated, it only really covers one or two meals in Tulum. The Sauna was out of order, and there was not any invitations to schedule the sound healing. I would have appreciated more acknowledgement and hospitality. I think it is the responsibility of the hotel staff and owner to honor and acknowledge the retreat package and make sure everything is accounted for.

The hotel itself is pretty nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool was cool and refreshing. However, the atmosphere was a bit chaotic. There was very loud construction happening the whole time I was there. Again, no acknowledgement of this and not any warning ahead of time. This made it more difficult to relax during my stay. I think that there could be an improvement in terms of communication, hospitality and accountability.

Guests are entering into a very big moment in our lives when we go to take bufo for our first time and it is a big responsibility for the hotel staff to create a safe and welcoming space. I. Many ways, this was a perfect experience, and ultimately, I am very glad I did it. I do recommend to book your stay, just understand that it is not an inclusive retreat. It may be life changing, even if there are some areas of improvement.

First and foremost the space while in a busy part of Tulum is it's own little sanctuary of peace. The room was comfortable, clean and just the right temp. The communal bathrooms are also kept to a very high standard.

Now the important part...

The Kambo ceremony was much more rewarding than I expected. Having not known much about it, I was pleasantly surprised with the sense of calm and peace it brought me.

The Bufo ceremony was a wild ride that I'm still unpacking a little less than two weeks later. This medicine and the facilitators changed my life in the most profound way. A complete shift has occurred, I was able to discard many negative traits and traumas in the days following the ceremony. Rebuilding into the best version of myself in all the best ways. The very first thing I recall saying after I woke from the medicine was "this is what peace feels like". Everyone should have access to this!

The 3 hour cenote integration that followed was at the time a little overwhelming, however the tools and memories gained during this time have been invaluable with my long term integration.

I would also highly recommend the sensory deprivation tank. I was not expecting to gain much from this but I probably processed and released some of the most traumatic events of my past during this session.

This was and is the best thing I've ever done for myself in my 43 years on this earth. Do your soul a favor and go experience this medicine!
