About this Retreat
Lead Provider
Steven’s path to Iboga began as a young man searching for answers, driven by an unshakable feeling that there was more to life than what was being offered. Along the way, he was guided by great shamanic teachers from various traditions, including Native American and Guatemalan lineages, which deepened his connection to the earth and the ways of the ancestors, marking the beginning of his training as a healer.
A year after his first Iboga ceremony, Steven had the rare and profound opportunity to travel to Africa with a 10th-generation Bwiti shaman to undergo a full initiation into the Bwiti tradition. Being welcomed by this intact indigenous tribe was an incredible honor and a life-changing experience—one that would shape his path in the years to come.
Following his initiation, Steven apprenticed for nearly a year under Moughenda Mikala, a renowned 10th-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman, working alongside him at the Bwiti House in Costa Rica. He became one of the first Westerners to serve Iboga in the West, fully immersing himself in the Bwiti teachings and stepping into his role as an Iboga provider.
From there, Steven took on a leading role in bringing Iboga healing to the Western world. He became the main provider at Iboga Wellness, the oldest Iboga retreat center in the West, where he served for two years. In 2016, he founded Iboga Healing, his own Iboga center, and later helped establish several other Iboga centers worldwide.
In 2021, he moved to Portugal and co-founded Root Healing, serving as the lead provider. After years of refining the healing process, he founded Iboga Medicine, Portugal, where he continues his work as the lead provider—creating a space of integrity, transformation, and deep healing.
Steven is also the first person outside of Gabon to be granted the privilege of facilitating pre-initiation ceremonies for all genders—a traditional Bwiti Iboga ceremony that connects participants to the Bwiti tribe and to themselves on a deep spiritual level.
With over 13 years of experience, Steven is one of the most experienced Iboga providers outside of Africa. His mission is to guide people with care, integrity, and devotion, helping them heal, reconnect with their true self, and rediscover the truth within.
Rupi Moussanza Saran - Iboga Provider
Rupi spent six months in Gabon to receive her training as a lead Iboga provider, where she learned to embody the Bwiti teachings and wisdom. Her initiation into the tradition was a life-changing experience.
Straddling difficult cultures, she’s no stranger to societal pressures, and often felt her life must look and be a certain way. For example having an arranged marriage within her religion and expected to live life to meet cultural conditioning.
To heal, she turned to yoga; Buddhism, Astrology, Reiki and all that encompasses the New Age Spirituality. But in her constant searching nothing brought her the peace she longed for or the realness she craved.
Iboga showed her what she’d done to herself and how to undo a lifetime of conditioning and pretending. She got real with herself and with the clarity from her soul she knew her calling was to help others find joy in self-honesty,
Rupi is a rare provider who uses humor and warmth to help people navigate their healing and to not fear seeing themselves and their soul for perhaps the first time. She’s a wise guide and generous host and working with Iboga plant medicine she’s achieved tremendous results in healing people from all over the world

Our 7 day Psycho-Spiritual Retreat is formulated for deep healing, and revolves around the Bwiti traditional ceremonies.
Day 1 - On arrival day, you are welcome to arrive at the center anytime after noon. We will be waiting for you with a meal, a beautiful room for your to settle in and decompress. We will have an evening orientation circle to introduce everyone and go over any questions.
Day 2 - One on One with your Bwiti Iboga provider to discuss your goals for your ceremony. This gives you a chance to get to know each other better, and your provider will guide you in a written exercise in preparation for your ceremony. Iboga ceremony #1 begins at sundown.
Day 3 - Rest and Integration Day; When the sun rises after your ceremony night in the temple, you will be led back to your private room to rest and reflect on your experience. This is an important day to let all of the pieces fall into place, and we will be checking in with you to make sure you have the support and nourishment you need throughout the day.
Day 4- Spiritual Shower Ceremony; this is an African Cleansing Ceremony to wash away any lingering doubt and fear, and call in your new life. This day also provides an opportunity to get the extra rest and nourishment that you need before your next ceremony.
Day 5 - One on One with your provider to recalibrate your goals and intentions, share your experience so far, and ask any questions you have. Iboga Ceremony #2 at sundown.
Day 6 - Rest and Integration Day; When the sun rises after your ceremony night in the temple, you will be led back to your private room to rest and reflect on your experience. This is an important day to let all of the pieces fall into place, and we will be checking in with you to make sure you have the support and nourishment you need throughout the day.
Day 7 - Enjoy celebratory breakfast and get yourself ready to go out into the world ready to enjoy it and to live your life.
After breakfast we will have a closing circle to help get ready for the outside world and set you up for a successful integration and life without the weight of past trauma, connected to your soul and purpose.
