Details of this retreat

Breath is the gateway to greater ease, energy, and clarity. Yet, most of us don’t breathe in a way that truly supports us. At this weekend’s Tsa Lung retreat, you’ll be guided in powerful practices that open the body, calm the mind, and awaken a deeper sense of well-being. Come discover the freedom and vitality that live within each breath.

Conscious, regulated breathing can bring vitality to our body and clarity to our mind. Uniting our attention with our breath expands our presence in each moment of life, allowing us to respond with greater wisdom and compassion—and with less ego, anger, and pride.

Come discover the freedom and vitality that live within each breath.

Tsa Lung Trul Khor, which means “the magical movements for the channels and winds”, refers to specific and, until recently, secret practices. These unique, purifying, physical exercises are designed to enhance meditation practice, especially practice in the Dzogchen style of effortlessly resting in the nature of one’s own mind. These methods have been traditionally employed by tantric yogis in the Himalayas, Zhang Zhung, and Tibet.

These ancient teachings come from the Tibetan Bön tradition, and specifically from the Mother Tantra cycle of teachings. From a Bön or Buddhist perspective, these practices purify the body, speech, and mind, clear obstacles and the afflictive emotions, open our subtle body (channels and chakras) and guide us toward a mental and physical well-being. The practice is even able to drop us into our “natural state,” a state of pure clarity and awareness. This weekend’s teaching is also a foundation for the practice of Tummo, which Khenpo Rinpoche is offering as a program the following weekend (Dec. 21 - 22, 2025).

Watch the interview with Drupdra Khenpo Rinpoche with Rob Patzig on the importance and benefit of Tsa Lung practice.

Held at Serenity Ridge and also offered online by Zoom, Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin Rinpoche will teach a specific breathing technique designed to release tension, agitation and drowsiness from the body and mind, and leave us in a clear and open state that facilitates meditation and our general well being. Participants who commit to the practice, which takes little time and is easily learned, may experience increased energy, more radiant health, and the inner warmth of joy and bliss while nurturing compassion and wisdom. This program is tailored for modern practitioners from both Eastern and Western backgrounds, making these ancient techniques accessible to all.

Khenpo Tsultrim Tenzin Rinpoche, a wise and joyful teacher. As the head of the Meditation School at Triten Norbutse monastery in Katmandu, Nepal, has taught meditation, Tummo and more at Triten Norbutse Monastery since 2002. His deep focus on practice and cultivating personal experience have endeared him to students around the world. Don’t miss this special opportunity to learn from him during his first visit to the US.

This retreat will be recorded. Recordings will be available for 30 days post retreat.
