Are you feeling the need to step away — to rest, reflect, and reconnect?
Our Space and Ease retreat offers you the rare gift of unstructured time in a nurturing and natural environment. At Ratna Ling, nestled among redwoods and open skies, you’re invited to move at your own pace and reconnect with what truly matters.
This personal retreat allows for deep rest and meaningful self-care. Whether you seek stillness or movement, solitude or quiet guidance, your experience is entirely your own. You’ll find support through a peaceful cottage, regular nourishing meals, and an atmosphere designed to help you realign with your inner rhythm.




Your Days, Your Way
There is no rigid schedule here. Instead, you’re invited to choose what nourishes you:


Meditate in silence or guided practice
Hike through ancient forests or stroll the coastline
Read, write, reflect, or simply rest
Engage in self-study or body-centered practices

Evenings are quiet and contemplative. You may enjoy time in the library or explore online teachings from our Founder, Tibetan Buddhist master Tarthang Tulku.




Optional Guided Sessions
For those who wish, the weekend includes gentle, optional sessions to deepen your retreat:
Orientation & Meditation Practice
You’ll begin by meeting other guests and learning foundational practices from the Tibetan Buddhist perspective — including shamatha (calm abiding meditation) and guided attention through the senses.
Kum Nye & Self-Massage
These gentle body-based practices integrate movement, breath, and stillness to regulate the nervous system, release tension, and open space for joy, compassion, and embodied awareness.
Throughout the weekend, you’ll explore how to relate to your thoughts and emotions with more ease, and how to distinguish meditation from other forms of inner work like therapy.




Let This Be Your Time
This retreat is about being more than doing. It’s a sacred pause. A moment to return to yourself.

COVID POLICY: For your safety and ours, we require that all participation be vaccinated against Covid and provide proof of a  negative covid test result within 48 hours of arrival.  We wish to provide peace of mind for all of our residents and guests.

Transportation to/from Ratna Ling is NOT included - carpooling encouraged
Payments are nonrefundable and transferable to a future Ratna Ling retreat
Each cottage includes TWO private rooms with queen beds, large dining & living area, gas fireplace, spacious deck, jacuzzi tub, linens/towels/hand soap, kitchenette with tea & coffee, complimentary wireless internet. 
Vegetarian meals are served during our weekend together.

Getting Here

Directions

San Francisco International and Oakland International airports are approximately three hours south of Ratna Ling by car. Alaska Airlines flies to and from Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa which is approximately 1.5 hours from Ratna Ling by car. Unfortunately, there are no shuttles that bring you directly to Ratna Ling, so it is best to rent a car or email us to support in coordinating a carpool with fellow retreatants.

Accommodation

14 guest cottages on 120 acres of property. Each spacious, quiet cottage has 2 private rooms, with high ceilings and a deck with a view. Cottages include jet tubs (or ADA shower), towels, deluxe linens, refrigerator, tea kettle, coffee/tea, kitchen sink/counter, diningware, dining table, and living room with a stove fireplace. Free wifi available and a landline telephone. Guests can choose to have an exclusive cottage for ONE person; a private room for ONE person in a SHARED cottage; or a cottage for TWO people. Any additional guest after TWO is $100 per person per night. Meals and classes included.

Three miles from the beautiful Sonoma coast. Organic, vegetarian meals. 120 acres of redwoods, canyons, reservoirs, and wildlife. Sacred architecture timber cottages and communal spaces. Featured stupas, gardens, and temple empowered by Tibetan Buddhist Lama Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche.

Menu Types

All of our meals are organic and vegetarian, made with love and care. We provide homemade yogurt and granola for breakfast. Lunches and dinners always include salads or salad bar. Each meal is self-served on a buffet table.

The most peaceful retreat center set in nature
I LOVE Ratna LIng. It is remote, peaceful, with nothing but nature sounds to hear. The fall is lovely here. Lots of wind, the sound of leaves and birds and trees. It's a very easy place to disconnect from all the city things and people here. The retreat program I participated in was not overly scheduled, calm, healing. Food was super fresh, vegetarian, and lovely. The cottages are soooo nice! I left wanting more time there...

Best retreat in Bay Area
This was my third time and all I can say is each time I fall in love even more with Ratna Ling! The entire wooded forest, the gorgeous cabins, the free roaming turkeys, the incredibly delicious meals and Ofcourse the energy of peace radiating through out. Linda the director co led this retreat which was filled with insights and activities to calm and reset. Forest meditation to self massage techniques. We also received books and a journal. I highly recommend a Ratna retreat to everyone!
