Details of this retreat
“The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye...” (Genesis 2: 9a, NIV)
In a world that moves at a sometimes overwhelming pace, the forest offers us a sacred pause: a place where we can listen deeply, breathe fully, and simply be present. Join us in this introductory class discussing the amazing holistic health benefits of the contemplative practice known as: Forest Therapy, Forest Bathing, or Shinrin yoku.
St. Placid Forest Therapy Class
In our Forest Therapy introductory class, set amidst the serene beauty of St. Placid Priory’s forest, we will explore Forest Therapy and Forest Medicine, their scientific and holistic foundations, and the growing body of research highlighting the mental, physical, and spiritual benefits.
We’ll discuss ways in which this simple, yet powerful practice, can influence us in many ways including:
Reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression
Boosting immune function by increasing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, vital in cancer defense
Lower blood pressure and cortisol levels, improving cardiovascular function
Enhance memory, focus, and sleep quality
Foster a deepened sense of peace, gratitude, and spiritual connection with God and creation
Forest Therapy is recognized globally as a preventative medicine and a growing practice within the field of Forest Medicine. Studies show that the holistic benefits of Forest Therapy walks can last up to several weeks, depending on the duration of the forest experience.
Come learn (and walk) with us.
Whether you are seeking healing, peace, clarity, or simply a deeper connection with God and creation, we warmly invite you to join us in our Forest Therapy class (and additionally our Forest Therapy walks). Let the forest be your wellbeing sanctuary.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made...”
(Romans 1:20 NIV)
