Details of this retreat
The Vajrayana approach to yoga includes a comprehensive framework that integrates all of the dimensions of what it means to be human. Through physical movement we cultivate embodiment. Through breathwork, breath retention, and sonification we train our speech and subtle body. And through concentration and insight practices we train in distinctive methods of seeing the mind’s natural state with clarity and insight. Taken together, this approach to practice culminates in the trikāya, the three bodies of complete Buddhahood.
Lama Karma will bring teachings from the Shangpa Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, drawing from the “Threefold Natural Settling” Mahāmudrā instructions of Niguma.
James Bae will provide instruction on Tibetan Yoga, breath practices and meditations form the ancient or Nyingma tradition.
Lama Karma and Dr. James have collaborated on Tibetan Yoga according to Ka-Nying, bridging the subtle body practices of these traditions together in a complementary approach.
In this summer retreat they will bridge together yogas of the ‘ancient’ and ‘whispered’ traditions in an accessible format, for all levels of experience and physical capacity.
