Eucharistic Adoration
Recently asked why they think there are more seminarians coming from Hastings, some St. Cecilia parishioners responded unanimously that it was since they started a 24/7 Eucharistic Adoration program.

One hope of the Eucharistic Revival is to increase Eucharistic adoration throughout our diocese and our country. Bishop James Conley believes this practice bears great spiritual fruit where it is practiced.

“Eucharistic adoration provides individuals an opportunity to spend time with Jesus,” he continued, “not only to express our love and gratitude to him for his countless blessings, but also to allow Jesus to love us back, and to heal our spiritual infirmities. Those who spend time in Eucharistic Adoration receive countless graces and blessings.”

The Eucharistic Adoration Retreat is hosted by the Knights of the Holy Eucharist, a group of Franciscan religious brothers founded in 1998 by the late Mother Mary Angelica, foundress of EWTN. They are serving the Church in the Diocese of Lincoln and dedicated to fostering reverent devotion to the Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

“The retreat will be in the form of Eucharistic spiritual exercises, with scriptural meditations in front of the Blessed Sacrament, daily Mass, as well as confession and spiritual direction,” Brother David Mary said. “The goal of the retreat is the renewal of our spiritual life through a profound experience of the healing love of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.”

Brother David is the community servant of the Knights of the Holy Eucharist.  Since their arrival in the Diocese of Lincoln in 2016, the Knights have assisted Bishop Conley in boosting adoration efforts – strengthening the perpetual adoration programs and encouraging adorers to sign up to participate.

“I have been very touched by the receptiveness and joy of the people who have responded to signing up as new adorers,” Brother David said. “There is a real and tangible hunger for a deeper relationship with our Lord. This is made possible by the holiness of our bishops, priests, and religious who have instilled a yearning in our diocese to seek Christ wholeheartedly.”

Joining the Eucharistic adoration retreat will assist those who already adorers grow deeper in their own Eucharistic relationship, and help those who are not regular adorers to learn about the importance and beauty of this practice.

Wonderful Retreat
The timing was perfect for a silent retreat between groups of large group retreats. I was nearly alone for my prayerful days with God. I had the chapel to myself all day long. Meals were prepared and placed in the refrigerator for whenever eating worked into my schedule. The food was good. The bed was comfortable, and I slept very well. The center was quiet, and staff members were helpful and kind. Father said Mass each morning and was available for spiritual direction. The 80 acres was beautiful. God led my much needed retreat, and I was grateful to God and to everyone at Our Lady of Good Counsel for making it happen.
