Details of this retreat
Let’s gather in circle. Tell the old stories. Awaken the wild woman within.
Step into a circle of women, where ancient tales are spoken aloud and the wild soul in each of us is remembered. Using the Myth & Magic Process, each month we journey into one chapter of Women Who Run with the Wolves, written by Clarissa Pinkola Estés — a book that has become a beacon for women seeking their instinctual, creative, and untamed selves.
Each month, one sister will take on the sacred task of storytelling to the group, bringing each myth or tale to life so that we may hear it not only with our ears, but feel it with our bones. From there, we move together into exploration of the themes brought up — through art, writing, movement, and reflection — giving the story space to work its magic in us.
Come for a single gathering to taste the power of this work, or walk with us for the full year-long journey. Either way, you’ll be entering a space that is nourishing, transformative, and deeply alive.
This isn’t just a book club. It’s a deep remembering. It’s an invitation to reawaken the wild woman within, to reclaim the parts of yourself that have been hidden or silenced, nourish your soul with real food wisdom, so that you can step more fully into your life with courage and creativity.
Facilitators:
Esther Kalaba: Soul Seeker/Art Therapist/Lady of the Breath/Wild Woman
Esther Kalaba is an art therapist and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience working with the symbolic realms of art, psyche, and story. She loves to witness how women come together to support one another, and how ancient stories provide deep wisdom to meet the emotional needs of modern life.
“Stories are alive, and they need to be fed. The more we gather in circle, the more we give voice to these powerful truths — and the more they nourish us in return.”
Esther is passionate about creating spaces where women can remember these stories and reclaim their wisdom for modern times, awakening their creativity, courage, and wild knowing.
Marianne Larochelle: Artist/Photographer/Yogi/ Wild woman.
“We are a circle of women inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés’ Women Who Run with the Wolves. Our book club is more than a gathering—it’s a space to awaken the wild, untamed spirit within. Together, we read, reflect, and share stories that reconnect us to intuition, creativity, and the deep feminine wisdom that lives in us all. Each meeting is an invitation to honor our voices, nurture sisterhood, and walk the path of the wild woman—free, fierce, and whole.”
Marianne Larochelle is a wild woman photographer and storyteller, devoted to exploring the mystical threads that weave through women’s lives. With her lens and her words, she captures the raw, untamed beauty of the feminine spirit—its cycles, myths, and mysteries. Guided by intuition and a deep reverence for archetypal stories, Marianne studies myths and folktales from all corners of the earth, creating spaces where images and narratives become portals into soul, memory, and magic.
Marianne founded the Myth & Magic Process: A Shamanic Photography experience offered in person.

It was a great experience. Very relaxing. A great opportunity to work on a book in one’s own pace. Friendly atmosphere too: everyone respects your privacy but you can meet some really nice creative people.

Perfect Stay
We had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful, charming cabin! It was the perfect setting for a family weekend, with plenty of space for everyone to gather and celebrate. The rooms were quaint and cozy, each one full of character and comfort. We especially loved the variety of common areas—ideal for both big group moments and smaller, more intimate conversations. Every little nook seemed made for laughter, reminiscing, and connection. Truly a magical spot that made our special occasion even more unforgettable. Highly recommend for any gathering or getaway!

A Room of One's Own Writing Residency at The Seed Lodge was just what I needed
Esther, Ma'amo and Bella were great hosts. I was the first to arrive at the Lodge (thanks to Esther for picking me up at in Toronto) so had the first pick of the rooms. I'm sure they were all great but I loved my room. It had decent lighting and everything I needed for my 7-day writing getaway. The lodge itself was clean. Never had to wait my turn to use the communal washroom. The kitchen was well-equipped. The place was spacious enough for all the writers to find a spot/nook to settle into. Though it was once a school, it had a homey-vibe...with the piano, the art supplies, guitars kicking about, nice alcove seating areas. Another great perk were the breathing technique sessions led by Esther. These would happen at 6:30 in the morning in the upstairs loft. What a great way to start my writing day.
I appreciated a good balance of quiet time and social time with the other writers. It rained a lot while I was there...which sort of worked out well for me because I would've been enticed to head out doors more. I would've insisted on a campfire, made more of an effort to go on nearby hikes. But alas, I was meant to stay by the desk and be a homebody.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice getaway, to get some writing done.

Beautiful space to recharge and learn
Had a great time attending Breathwork retreat at the Seed Lodge over the weekend. The lodge is very nicely decorated, cozy and spacious.
The retreat itself was well-organized, allowing for immense amount of learning and practicing as well as some free time.
Esther has a very warm presence and made me feel welcomed and comfortable during the retreat.
This was life-changing! Thank you again :)
