Day 1 begins with a warm welcome and a nourishing snack, followed by an in-depth self-awareness conversation and evaluation to prepare you for the journey ahead. Participants receive guidance in key techniques to support their experience. Following a dinner with our team and other guests (Withus dinner), you spend the first night in the darkness cabin.
Day 2 of the retreat begins with a peaceful awakening and morning greeting, followed by a group meditation, breathing technique session, followed by an ice bath and brunch, before the start of the 4-day darkness experience. In the afternoon, after an individual therapy session, each guest enters his or her cabin and immerses in total darkness. This begins the longest, uninterrupted period of self-reflection and therapy that most people have never experienced before.
Days 3 to 6 spent in total darkness are the centerpiece of the entire program. The time spent in total darkness and voluntary isolation* from outside stimuli, allows participants to focus on their journey of self-discovery and healing. Each day, a counsellor visits all participants, providing meals and offering counselling support in the experience of darkness. Participants can turn the light at any time that suits them. They can also leave and return to the darkness if they feel it is good for them or they need it. The freedom to choose what this part of the retreat should look like is always the sovereign, individual decision of each participant.
* The darkness cabin is open from the inside and one can always leave it.
Day 5 or 6 concludes the transformative journey. After leaving the darkness cabin, you will have a spontaneous conversation with your counsellor and a one-on-one session, have breakfast and write a letter to yourself for the future. The afternoon is time for group meditation and meeting other program participants. The sixth night is your last night in the darkness cabin. Time for self-reflection and summary.
Departure day: Breakfast, farewell and departure. As you leave, you will take with you a new clarity of mind and inner peace. For those who desire deeper reflection, there is an option to extend the retreat by one additional day and night to further integrate the experience before returning to everyday life.
