About this Retreat
Melanie discovered yoga's transformational power while traveling in India in 2009. Over the years, she deepened into her practices exploring asana, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, chanting, kundalini kriya as well as Usui Reiki Healing.
She has completed over 700 hours of teacher training across multiple yoga styles and holds a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology Movement Sciences from San Francisco State University.
Melanie shares a holistic approach to yoga, viewing the different modalities as maps to explore the vast landscapes of our multilayered human experience.
Students describe her teaching style as nurturing, inspiring, and accessible to practitioners of all levels. Her classes will guide you through an embodied journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Having previously taught at Talalla Retreat from 2016-2018, she is returning to share yoga as a path to innate wholeness.

At the heart of this wellness retreat is a thoughtfully curated blend of movement and immersive experience. Each day follows a supportive rhythm that balances energising yoga and Pilates with deeply restorative practices such as Yin and Restorative Yoga, breathwork, and sound healing. This intentional flow allows the body to strengthen and expand while giving the nervous system space to soften, reset, and regulate naturally.
Beyond movement, the retreat offers embodiment and healing practices, including Kundalini, sound healing, mantra singing, and meditation. These sessions are designed to guide you inward, supporting emotional release, embodied awareness, and a deeper connection to self, all held within a safe and grounded environment.
What truly elevates this experience is the integration of recovery, culture, and spaciousness. Time spent in the beachfront bathhouse, a full-body massage, nourishing meals, and meaningful cultural experiences—such as a Sri Lankan cooking class, guided e-bike rides, and temple visits—create a sense of ease and connection that extends well beyond the mat.
