The best aerial retreat!!
The open air training facility is huge and well equipped, and we stayed cool from the 85F sun. After training a jump in the pool felt so good, and helped cool us off in the high heat. The food was *amazing*. There was endless variety of delicious and nutritious meals, I never once needed more than what they gave us. They also provided vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options; they put so much care into accommodating our needs. The entire staff was so friendly and thoughtful, it felt like home away from home. The excursions to the beach and town were so much fun, and added a great balance to an otherwise strenuous yet rewarding week of training (not to mention the on site massage service, so grateful for that).
The living accommodations were really nice, designed to cool naturally with lots of shade and screens to let in a breeze without letting in insects (which weren’t too bad overall imo). My partner and I opted for a private room/bathroom without air conditioning. While it was warmer than I’m used to, it was manageable at night with the high powered ceiling fan and the outside breeze keeping us cool. We also had a cute patio, surrounded by jungle vegetation.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, this place has my heart!
The Perfect Combo of Snacking and Trapeze
It was a perfect week and I can't wait to go back.
Food: Every meal was amazing, and so healthy that my nails even grew faster than normal. Each day there was breakfast, lunch, a midafternoon coffee and snack break, and dinner. They were careful to accommodate all dietary restrictions and preferences. And as a coffee fiend myself, the pitchers never ran out.
Rooms: The mattresses and pillows were so comfortable. While there is no AC, the masonry of the building helps keep the rooms cool during the day and the fan plus the natural breeze means the rooms can actually get a little chilly at night. I slept so well, which is rare for me on trips.
Training: Two training sessions each day with plenty of gym access time if I wanted to get in more practice. Our retreat lead was an amazing instructor and I got new cues on skills I've been working on for ages that completely changed the way I approached the moves. I was BEAT at the end of the day, but in the best way possible.
I will absolutely be coming back for another training retreat. Absolute 10/10 experience.
Home away from Home
The beauty of this retreat over others is that you get a lot of time training and honing your craft. Some other retreats are just about having cool Instagram photos and we were here to get down to business (but also got cool photos along the way).
Kerri is so kind and she does her best to make everyone comfortable, which has to be hard with so many kinds of people staying there. I loved meeting other aerialists and was not surprised that they were also amazing humans! I hope I can come back every year!!
